Newbie Snowblower question: Anti-stick coatings for snowblowers

I like Fluid Film but with it's cost I reserve that for really big snow events. For most snow events I use WD-40, I like the can with the trumpet type nozzle, it sprays a nice wide pattern. I also use it on my ATV blade, it makes me feel like it's working. I haven't sprayed the shovel yet, I'll have to give that a try.

NOPE, nope, nope, spraying the shovel will make it too slick.
You will not be able to hold any snow on the shovel and no a grain scoop or coal shovel will act the same way.

Well I went ahead and tried it on my shovel for some wet heavy snow that was on my deck. Since I had to toss it over the railing I was sure glad it didn't stick to the shovel. I then shoveled the patio and a path around my house and I didn't see anything negative about spraying the shovel with WD40.

That is precisely why I spray my shovels with silicone. I want the snow to fly off the shovel, not stick to it.

I once bought a spray can of stuff made exactly for this. It’s sold at the equipment places and department stores. Other than that, I use any spray fluid like fluid film or silicone. I might add that one of our recent storms was so heavy the blower was plugged instantly and nothing at all came out. I cleared with the bucket.

That is good advice, never make a shovel slippery.

Ariens sells a spray product called SnoJet that works surprisingly well. It lasts longer than silicone, and supposedly penetrates the surfaces and builds up layered protection.
May be “market speech” but it does work well, and my blade is still slick from last season.

I'll have to give it a try. Sounds like it sure last longer than the silicone spray I have always used. I see Home Depot sells it.

Before you buy it read the chemical ingredients in the stuff that Ariens markets-not healty period. Fluid film is made with Lanolin as its base ingredient and is non toxic.

If everyone did that on every product they bought, the U.S.A. would probably crash.

Mind you - I'm not arguing, just stating an observation.
