TODAYS SEAT TIME

I hauled a yard of compost home a,couple of years ago...somehow I thought it weighed about 1400 lbs and I knew that I had a load on that little Ranger. Since then I've hauled a load of scrap iron which weighed 1494 lbs, and I never felt the load. I don't think I will be hauling any more compost in that truck.

10k on an F150....That must be exciting at times ? I thought CA was strict. DOT here would have me stopped before I got 2 miles.

According to the owner's manual this configuration of F150 is rated for 11300lb max towing weight. I have LRE tires on the pickup and when towing the backs are 70lb the front 55lb. It is solid, no sway or pulling, never had a problem. Early on I tried it with 4 yards of topsoil in the trailer and with their usual 15-20% extra that was up to near 5 yards and most definitely overloaded.

I just got done looking at some F150 specs because I didn't think you would be wrong just because I thought 10k was high. I sure was surprised. I'm not a Ford man but I can tell you those newer F150s are nothing like the ones from my day as far as towing capability goes. So I learned something. Sorry I jumped w/o checking first.

Here, if you haul it, it is sold by the yard. Loader has a one yard bucket and a 1/2 yard bucket. If it is purchased from a rock pit, it is sold by the ton. Truck is weight going in and then out. The most they can load a truck and be legal is 80,000 lbs. total. I have been told that a truck full is about 20 yards of gravel. A truck load hauled and dumped is about $650 to $750. And it is still going up.

Ouch. That’s probably a little more rock than we’re getting on a dump truck but here 20 tons is about 400 or a tad less delivered. Then again there’s 3 or more rock quarry’s within 20 miles.

Rock here, multiple pits within 40 to 60 miles, I am needing about 3 to 4 load, spread on my roads. I though it was high when it was $500 a load a few years back. I am told that hauling is $150 to $250 a load, plus the cost of the rock. Some of the cheap rock down here does not hold up. It is just too soft.

with days and days of rain coming up and a serious itch to get out, with some difficulty I hooked up the LP disc and turned over my 2 acres of veggie garden. Really didn't need to, wanted to see how new tractor pulled the disc, kinda funny, like it wasn't even back there. Disc barely cleared tires, wanted to chew up the old field grass a little more. But mostly, just for seat time and polishing up those discs. Bit muddy though.

Disc is cat one, tractor is cat 2, I have some bushings to buy, oem top link wouldn't fit, had to use an extra long cat 1 link I had. Waiting on hydraulic top link, that is a real spoiler, had it on the Kubota before.

Scratched my head a little looking at oem pin for top link. It has an electrical connector on the end of it. Why would they put a sensor on the top link?

The draft system is electronic, the wire is going to a sensor in the top link bracket & pin.

could it actually have a strain gauge on it and sense pressure/pull? Or just on/off a pin is there...
better not lose that pin, geez must that be expensive...
