TYM T234, Kubota B6200
Currently living in Florida, formerly eastern Ky. Currently have an 81 kubota B6200 2wd that I bought to mow, rake and level around my 2.5 acres. I have been researching for the last year to find a 4wd with decent lift on bucket and 3 point and mid mount mower. I I have a large amount of oak trees to to mow around so I have chosen to go sub compact. LS XJ2025, Kioti CK2510, TYM T234 and Kubota BX2380V. I was sold on the Kubota until figuring out that the bucket lift was around 600lbs, rear tires were small. Pass. Priced the other 3 and dug into the specs and reviews. The TYM 234 won out with larger tires, larger frame, better width, 5ft bucket instead of 4ft and $2,000+ less that the others. Should be ready in a few days since it had to be ordered and Ocala Tractor goes above and beyond to make the deal. Let me know what you think of my choice. Again thanks for letting me be a member of this group.

Congratulations. Sounds like you found a good tractor.

As long as you have a good dealer to service it and easy parts availability it should work out well. TYM also owns Branson and makes tractors for many companies.

Have you demoed all of these machines? That would be my only other suggestion.

I have been to the dealers of the Kubota and RK but not the others. Mainly been using specs, reviews and photos. TYM dealer is close to 2hrs away is the only bad I can find, I do most of my own mechanic work and the duramax and trailer can take it back to the dealer if needed. Saving close to 3k buys a lot of fuel and I have time since I am retired. Hoping the TYM lives up to it's specs and it does have a good warranty. 90% of its use will probably be mowing and moving things and 10% loader duty.

My dealer is 3 hours away. The only time I've been there is to buy two tractors from him. He always says "see ya when you buy the next one" when I leave his dealership. Don't let two hours define your purchase.

So did you buy a TYM or Kubota?...Post #1 says you bought a TYM, post #4 says Kubota.

Sorry I own an old Kubota and was about to buy a new one but read the fine print and realized the specs I got was breakout of pins not an actual lifting capacity. I bought the TYM T234 and it should be delivered any day now. The TYM was far ahead in lifting and tire size and 3k cheaper.

You were able to buy a TYM T234 for 3K less than the LS XJ2025 or the CK2510? I need the phone number of that dealer. I'll drive the 1500 miles to go get one...

Either way, congrats on getting a tractor!

Manufacturers of these smaller tractors are very strick about advertisement of thier products trying to prevent price wars and other complications I guess. Bottom line there is a substantial markup so shop around and find the best deal on either brand then use it for a little leverage. If they don't want to deal then they shouldn't be your dealer.

Just looked at the TYM prices out here. They definitely came down from what they were last year, but still are totally reversed from your area. It's crazy how dealers can vary so much. The LS dealer is still under the TYM by about $2200 bucks. The TYM is a bit beefier I think.

Eddie,
I've been pleased with my TYM and the only time I've taken it to the dealer in 8 years is for them to run the hydraulics when I purchased a front snow blade. I don't think you'll have that problem.

TYM builds a good tractor and they build them under several labels including TYM, RK, and some of the Mahindras. The main difference between branded tractors from TYM, RK, and some Mahindra is the engine.

That seems like a perfectly reasonable choice. The T234 has the Mitsubishi engine, doesn't it?

Yes it does. Hopefully will see it delivered this week. Can't wait to try it out.

Not a snow problem here.. I hope I will be as pleased as you.

I've been extremely happy with my Tym-built Mahindra 2540 which has 115 hours on it now. I would buy another (Tym) in a heartbeat. The E-Series Deere and L-Series Kubota are nice machines but seemed smaller and lighter and had less features and lift capacities. But for some people, those aspects may not be the primary consideration when buying -- each person has their own reasons for what they like in a tractor. As others have said, having a supportive dealer is a huge consideration, possibly more important than the performance, features, or color of the actual machine in some cases.

I researched for months and was mainly interested in Kubota, LS and TYM. The TYM 234 is definitely beefier since it was originally a 29hp 293 and now the 234, heavier frame, larger, bigger tires, much more lift capacity and for me a savings of well ofer 2k in my area. Mine is being built now and will be in to the dealer by end of week so I will be posting pics and review next week I hope.
