Returning fluid directly to tank

I have a B3200. I just got a loader put on it and hydraulic remotes. I want to get a small wood post driver to use on it. I need the hydraulic return to go directly to the tank for the driver. I have my dealer working on it and they're a bit stumped. The plan was to run it to the fill hole on the tank but it's not threaded on the B3200. It just has a plug. Does anyone know an easy way to make this happen?

I stopped by just to look at it with the loader and saw the return line from the front going in to the tank. It has a 3rd function on it as well. Could you put a Y fitting on it at the tank and run another line for the return I'm looking for?

Last question. What is the issue with the return going through the remote instead of going directly to the tank? As in what's slowing down the flow.

I don't have post driver and you will have to get a second opinion for sure.

I would think teeing or using a y on the tank line would work fine.

Going through a valve would not work because it needs to "dump" the fluid in order to fall fast enough to be effective. Any restrictions on the dump line will slow the cylinder retracting and defeat the effectiveness of the driver.

Could you use a tank and a 12 volt pump that pumps the contents of the tank back to the tractor tank? That way the post driver dumps into the tank which the electric pump then empties back into the tractor?

No reason not to, the easiest way out.

Not a good idea, the oil should enter the tank below the surface of the oil to prevent aeration and it should be as far as possible from the pickup to give it as much time as possible to cool down before it's pumped back thru the system..........Mike

I’ve never seen a post driver small enough that I’d want it on any Kubota B series tractor. That said, there are thousands of drivers that return oil through the fill port without aeration issues. A properly sized steel tube could be pressed into the port with some type of threaded connection at the top to accept a cap or the return from the driver as the case may be.

Talked to my dealer this morning. For some reason they can't use a Y so he's going to put a 90 on the drain plug and use it. Hope it works.

On the DRAIN plug? Don’t hit it and knock it off.

That was my first question to him. He said it won't be the lowest part but I still don't know about it hanging down there. From what he said, it might be the only way I can get it done.

Wouldn't you need to connect to the power beyond connections? Feed the post driver valve from the pressure port and feed the return back to the tank port.
