It's a river soon, it's regulated by a hydro electric power plant, but before that it was a constant worry because in the spring it flooded and washed away a lot of land at times and made a havoc of whole community. This is the minimum flow that is keept so the fish survive the winter.

Got my load of wood cut into 20' lengths and piled out of the way so I can haul it down to the acreage with my gooseneck this summer. IMG_5481.JPGIMG_5482.JPGIMG_5483.JPGIMG_5484.JPGIMG_5486.JPG

I got tired of manhandling these fir rounds and ended up using the grapple to drop them close to the splitter. I hate it when this happens (on the round), but I got it split in half on the second try.

I figure it's fair because I have to listen to all you guys talk about the awesome hard woods you have. Best I can get is birch. LOL.

Well, me and geoduck have mostly doug fir to deal with, very little hard wood . . . geoduck, this past year I had to deal with a few doug's that were 42" or so at the butt, was not fun for this old man.

Someone say hardwood? Took every ounce of oomphf for the JD to pick this up, & that's as high as I could get it. Felt quite dicey in the rear with it in the air. I had very little traction, especially trying to move it up a slight incline. Probably wouldnt have been so bad if the rears were still loaded. Previous owner had calcium in there & it did quite the number on the rims. After I got this beauty of a log off to the side, I pushed it the rest of the way.

Well, I finally got this tree worked down to the stump so it is ready to burn in the fall. These big rounds sure make firewood a slow process.
