Kubota L2501, Kubota M7040, RTV900XT
Went to the dealership to get everything for the 50 hour service on my L2501. The guy at the parts counter said Kubota changed the oil from 10w30 or 10w40 to Sae30 now. Both are Kubota brand oil. I have been getting the 10w for the m7040 for a few years now and that痴 all the dealer I use to go to had. I don稚 have the manual on the tractor handy and was just wondering in this is a new change.
Thanks,
Stephen.

I think your dealer may be blowing smoke.
With the correct API service rating, generally most multi viscosity ranges are acceptable. A 30 or 40 weight oil with a W(inter) rating of 0,5,10, or 15 is reasonable depending on your location. A true straight 30 viscosity oil is going to be very thick at cooler temps.
Opinions vary, going with what's in your manual is always a safe bet!

Somebody doesn't know his azz from a hole in the ground. Use EXACTLY what your Owner's Manual recommends.

I would run T6 and be done with it..

I run SAE30 in my gas powered rototiller.... not in a diesel tractor.

You need the 10W in there... preferably at least 10W40.

Heck I run 5W20 in my Briggs gas Commercial engine with a Motorcraft filter... been doing that for years!

I just checked the bottles and it is cf-2 for use in older engines (not what Kubota recommends). Supposedly this is all that dealership sells and that is all they had on the shelf. I also asked for super UDT and the had to go in the back to get it because I was like the third customer that has ever asked for it. I just find it odd that the parts counter would tell me this when I had everything written down that the book calls for and I bought the tractor from them. BC222634-E8B0-4883-9407-54A2CFAF27C1.png

Need to find a new dealer, like I said T6, or T5 10w-30 IIRC... don't know how cold it gets by you but if its above 32* year round Rotella 15w- 40 would work just fine..

Stop listening to Kubota on what oil to run, they are 25 years behind.. just look here for threads, you will find many people run T6, I do year round..

Like others have said, pay no attention to Kubota. Even the owners manuals are outdated. What the dealer sells you in the Kubota jug, is something your manual tells you not to use, LOL

I run either Shell Rotella T6 or Petro Canada Duron-E synthetics. Only thing you need to look for is you want the one that is labelled CK-4. It is backwards compatible.

Some new emissions motors (that don't apply to our emission motored tractors) call for a new oil category....called F-4. It is not backwards compatible and you don't want this for your tractor.

These will be shown in the little donut symbol on the oil container.

From the Shell Rotella web site, explaining it all:

What is PC-11? | CK-4 & FA-4 Diesel Engine Oil | Shell ROTELLA(R) | Shell ROTELLA(R)

Scook - the first line on that bottle reads " for older four stroke gasoline engines and two stoke diesel engines". Looks like your dealer is clearing out some old or slow moving stock.

Like others here have stated, there are better options for engine oil. But not for SUDT I think.
