I was loading manure and after several loads noticed some drops of oil on both front wheels on the inside, I checked the hub seals they were dry, it looks like it’s coming out of the axel tubes and it’s lighter oil doesn’t smell like 90wt oil. Any experience with this issue or changing the seals? Or useful info? Thanks

What led you to come to that conclusion? Hope you are right, and it is "good news" but not understanding that conclusion.

I have not heard of many problems on these axel seals, how many hours on your tractor? Is the MFWD front axel full of oil?
I do think I read about someone having leaks when they overload the front end via the loader. Should be instructions on changing these seals in the repair manual, which is what I would do for sure. A 50$ seal is a lot cheaper than a $6,000.00 front end!

YMCA camp where I worked had a JD 4310 mfwd that lost the front axle seals due to round bale twine getting wrapped on the axle and pulled into the seals. Not all the staff picked up the twine when putting out bales for the horses. It was the thin red twine.

I have read in high dust atmosphere or deep water” submerged” the grit over time can damage or eat away at the seals. Makes sense. Just wonder if it is a huge job to change them or anyone has done it?

My tractor has 1300 hrs on it, the oil is full to bottom of the hole. I plan on changing them pretty soon. I have a repair manuel it shows the blow up and parts but not any tips or tricks, just wondered if anyone had done the seals on a Carerra front end like this? Thanks for your input

I have a 2520 & it occasionally drips a bit of oil from the seals. My brother is an automotive mechanic & maintains my brothers tractors. He looked at my JD & thought it was likely caused by clay, or other material, pushing on the seals & causing the leaks. I keep the oil topped up & clean the front axles when it happens. So far so good.

I did go read the manual and not a huge job to change these seals. Pull the king pins use a hoist remove the hub assembly intact and axel pop the seal out with a pry bar make sure you have a socket or pipe close to same size as the metal ring on the seal to seat it and reassemble the whole thing. Prob clean the shaft and polish it. Good Luck

Also, came to mind that be sure the axle vent isn't plugged up.. that prevents oil from oozing out the seals when working it heats up the oil and it expands.
