I finally cleaned up the sander/spreader real good, all that's left to do is grease it and take another inch off the pto shaft. Since I was cleaning that I decided to wash off the tractor, done.

Before I put the backhoe on, I'll make sure all the nut & bolts are good and tight on the frame on the tractor that holds the hoe.

Yesterday.....put the backhoe on to pull out a few small stumps. There is a powerline that runs over my yard and through the fence row / tree line that goes to the neighbor's farm behind me. The power company's crew came in to clear the branches and trees from the area and left me with a few small stumps to remove rather than trash my mower over them. My backhoe doesn't get a lot of use, but every time it does, I'm very glad that I have it. Also used the bucket hooks (Ken's bolt ons) and chain to rip out the remaining roots. It's just plain awesome to have the equipment to make little jobs like this much easier. Any seat time on my Max is a good time!

I'll be moving some ash rounds to the splitting area and then I plan on pulling some ash I felled out of the gully with the 4540, EAB has hit our county months ago so I'm starting on the ones near some trails.

Pics 9071 & 72B are some ash I cut the other day, the rest are ash that I felled today.

I bucked up two of the ash trees that are in the gully and then pulled one out with the 4540 that's down further from the first couple of pics. I did move some of the rounds from pic 9103 to the splitter area.101_9101.JPG101_9102.JPG101_9103.JPG101_9104.JPG101_9106.JPG101_9107.JPG101_9109.JPG101_9110.JPG

Nice work swampy6. Nice looking wood. I'm hoping I get some wood done this weekend. It has been raining the last day or so here.

/ What did you do to or on your Mahindra today? #667
Thanks heavy hammer, that means your're sending us rain. :confused3: I'm opening up the gully with the 4540 for a walking trail and for use with the tractor so we can get more ash this fall.

A few days back, I finally used my Brush Hog.
It is a 60" Unit form Tractor Supply, CountryLine/King Kutter.
It is rated from 25 to 45 HP but my Tractor only has 28 HP and rated 23 HP at the PTO.
So I guess I am over working the little Max28 but hoping for the best.
So far all is good, the cutter has cut everything I put under it and so far the little tractor appears to be doing fine.

Happy with this thing, far more than I thought I would be and I got it on sale $300 off !

Just be sure to keep your rpm's up to the point where you maximize your HP. Consult your manual to be sure. I don't have a Max, but my 2538 sure does more than the rated 38 hp it has.
Glad it's working fine for you. Sounds like you got a good deal too!

Thanks for the info.

The Speed-O has an indicator for the 540 rpms; I run it just a little above that point.

In my never ending war on Yaupon, I added a Titan Tree Puller to my Everything Attachments EA Wicked Root Grapple and WoodMaxx WM8600 arsenal. Each has advantages and disadvantages, but the tree puller is a lot of bang for the buck at less than a thousand shekels. It does such a good job, you need a root grapple to wad it all up and carry it to the burn pile.

It's definitely mowing season here in Delaware; lots of rain (mostly on a weekend!), and the pollen is rocking and rolling!

For Father's day you can use PROMO CODE HANK at sawhaul.com and get 5% off your purchase. Check it out if you carry a chainsaw on your Tractor.

My Saturday morning project was to install a couple of side mirrors on the beast.
Picked up a pair of adjustable mirrors 6"x7.5" with articulated arms off of eBay. Got the pair for under $30. But the idiot seller didn't include the mounting bolts, as advertised, so I had to run to HD to pick up 6. (I'm amazed HD actually had 6 metric bolts to fit in stock!)

Anyway, found a place on the support structure of the FEL where I could drill and tap holes to mount them. Never had done a hole tap before, so it took me a little longer than you experts, I'm sure, but I got 'er done!

Couple of pics for those who might be interested.

That's interesting, nice idea ! How's it working out, vibrations ?

I've been thinking about mounting 6 x 8's on some 1" sq. Tubing, just hadn't figured out how I was going to do it and it wasn't high on the List of Things To Do ! My main problem was keeping the mirror steady, minimal vibrations.

They look like Jeep Mirrors, and they eliminate the need for additional bracing or mounting !
Now to test them in a work situation.

I like it !

Spent 9 hours yesterday on the tractor and excavator grading and cleaning an area for my lawn. Vast majority of the work was cleaning up the rocks and getting it all nice and smooth.

Massive thunderstorms came through last night and the area looks like a moonscape, all the soil is gone and all the rocks exposed.

Looks like another 9 hours is coming up for me.

Mounting is nice and stable. Got 3 6mm bolts on each one. And you're right Scrambler, they are Jeep mirrors ('85-'02). Articulating arms so you can fold them back if you want in tight spaces, but they are actually inside the outer edges of the back tires, so I think they're "kind of" safe.

There is some vibration. Not horrible, but it's definitely there. I put some 1/8" plastic foam (from for sale sign) between the mirror and FEL, and that helped a little. Rubber may do better. Haven't gotten around to trying that yet.

But the mirrors let me keep an eye on the edge of the mower deck (PTO) and my landscape rake when I groom the road and driveway. Saves my old neck from getting more creaks...

OK on Vibration and rubber mounting.
I think I have the same set in my Barn, they were going on a Jeep Project I was working on and then lost interest.

As far as a rear view, anything would be better than my nothing... I have to keep spinning around to keep things in check.

I am still thinking the 6 x 8 Mirrors similar to a Big Rig will work too but I am worried about too much vibrations,, we will see !

Keep us posted !
