If we get too much rain they will have to postpone the Todd River Regatta, it has happened in the past:rolleyes:

I'm sure some people would have been offended, I saw the funny side of it, could we say the dark side of the moon....

I could have handled “offended”. Not “getting it” due to poor presentation would have been embarrassing to me.

My 2-cents is that overall, we're seeing more weather extreme swings, rather than a net change. Summers are hotter in some areas, and winters are colder. Some areas are getting a lot less rain than in the past, some a lot more. In total, I suspect there's not much change, considering all areas.

I'm clueless as to what is causing the changes, be it global warming, natural weather cycles, tilt of the earth, or what. But I am sure that we are seeing local changes, and they're happening much quicker than anyone ever suspected that they could.

I've seen what can be done with SMOG & acid rain. It wasn't that long ago that Lake Erie caught fire. Now, there's a fishing industry there. Sometimes, win or lose, the fight is worth having. Just my 2 cents.

Lake Erie was severely polluted, but never caught fire. You are thinking of the Cuyahoga river.

Buffalo river caught fire from pollution and they had to let it burn out

We had the wettest year I can remember last year. We are presently in a drought and facing a heat wave. They predict we will see 100* F by the weekend.

It's wetter and cooler in Texas. Loving it. Let's burn more fossil fuels!

Wait, where are the wind mills?? I'm sure they either cools things off, when switched on, or heat things up when they turn them off.

Funny story about wind Mills, I was in field service. A place I serviced had two large windmills behind it. There was a young girl (early 20's) that complained that it was always windy. I pointed at the windmills and told her, of course it is, the fans are on. Look at them every time it's windy and you'll see them on. She looked over and said, "is that what they are?"

I hope she eventually figured it out, but I doubt it.

I’d laugh, but she’s our future!

It evens out though. We have a couple of young women in our family that are as smart as a whip. One of them just graduated from law school.

We're supposed to see the sun this afternoon, then 5 more days of rain. It's good for the grass seed and fruit trees we planted. But it's heck on the farmers in this part of the state. I haven't seen one field planted yet. They're over a month behind. A friend of my wife who's family farms about 10,000 acres says they might not get anything planted this year and they may have to take a total loss for the year.

What I really don't get is attitudes like this. We HAVE the DATA. It's freely available for everyone to investigate and research for themselves. Unless you want to believe that all scientists, worldwide, are engaged in some sort of organized conspiracy that can only be explained by their selfish desire to obtain.... their relatively meager salaries, then the consensus is clear: human activity is altering the climate. The greenhouse effect is easy to understand and calculate. Humans put over 40 BILLION tons of carbon into the atmosphere every YEAR nowadays. The average surface temp is warming, faster than it ever has before. Because of us. There is no mystery here.

NASA: Climate Change and Global Warming

At the same time, it is also perfectly reasonable to call people silly for blaming a local weather pattern or single storm event on climate change. There is just too much inherent variability in all weather systems to attribute small events to a global phenomenon.

By the way, the weather patterns are still just.... totally normal here in Michigan. We're well tempered by the 6 quadrillion gallons of water that surround us.

Everything is super green, not too wet, and temps are cool to normal.
