what a question first of all - you can take any color/any tractor size/any tractor feature and pick it to the bone just like a car - i think we would all agree there are pieces of every tractor company that we would wish some portion was on our tractor that works better, someone has better hydraulics, some better trannie, some better cab features, some better loader, kind of like the diesel truck debate...........I dont think anyone could ever put their finger on the best or most perfect one as at some point they will all fail and need something - so much depends on operator and care as well.

we could take this back to the old days or are you talking NEW? moderately new or used or old you didnt specify how new u were spending your money on - since you mentioned kubota i will go that route they didnt make their first ag tractor until 1960 and didnt start selling them in the US until early 70s so from there until now, there have been some VERY fine tractors built in all colors but how big of a tractor are you talking about too?

i have owned many colors and still do, i have had reasonably good luck with all of them, everything will fail no matter what it is, even people

Guys along the same lines of where this thread has gone. I need some unbiased advice about dealer relationship.

Background: I have tested the JD 1025r, the bx23s, and the GC1720. I even rented a bx25d for the three day weekend and had 20 yards of soil and mulch dropped off to spread out. (hard clay currently) I ended up breaking it after 8.5 hours (lug nuts front left tire popped off )when drive thru the rut that the dump truck left while I carrying full load.

I feel that the gc1720 is the best bang for my buck based on the limited data I have.

Delima:

Massey Furgason: there is only one authorized dealer within 50 miles of me I drove out to meet him Tuesday and test drive he even had some gravel he let me move around. When i say this is a small dealer that an understatement he is in the middle of nowhere (Gainesville, TX) mainly serve the big farms in the area so the SCUT is just this thing on his lot that had been there since 2017. The controls where great and it seems to have a much easier time than the bx25d I rented. He
super nice older gentleman. I have no doubts he come from an age where a handshake means it will happen. (at least 70 or 80 yo) just concerned that in 10years i would have to drive 100 miles to get service.

BX23s The kubota HQ is here in grapevine there is five dealership in Dfw all by this one company the one near me in Denton i talked to sales guy and asked him for a quote twice he couldn't be bothered. I fill out a form on Kubota website and they routed back to him even then he tacked on these other charges bring it closed to 29k I was like this guy is trying to get ride of business. Horrible experience. However i feel this is the 2nd best for the money.

1025r: The JD dealer this a local lawn and land shop and the customer service is awesome. They know your name i got a bobcat zero turn from them all of my lawn gear from them really, once I found out about this place. You can literally walk in and see narley old dudes just hanging out talking about engines or feed or the soil. Me coming from the city i had never experienced anything like it it was awesome. However i feel i will break the JD product in one season. I have no personal evidence only the horror story on YouTube and the little i test drove it. I would feel silly buying anything bigger than a SCUT and driving on 2 acres.

So how important is the dealer, someone mentioned first time owners should I put more emphasis on the dealer? Any direction is greatly appreciated!

I would say dealer support is pretty important theses days. Massey is a good tractor but anything over 25hp with any tractor, dealer support is even more important. 50 miles isn't bad if you have the means to take it there and back.. The closer the dealer the better..

I'm no pro but my opinion is this. For the average user and I stress average, if you are comparing like machines across brands, there probably is brands that work better for some in certain cases and other cases works the same and then in other cases not as good. But again if you are comparing the average user with apple to apple models across the brands, I doubt over the aggregate use, one brand or another will be all that much higher. Think it really comes down to cost effective, and I dont mean being cheap or spending the most. You see guys buying these things(trucks, and other equipment) who all to often spend umpteen times more than they have to and really waste money, not as frequently but its out there is the other side is you see guys be cheap and machines doesnt do what they needed and are losing money on trading in etc.

Forget brand & color. Shop dealer & *value* (Note: NOT just the cheapest price) of the machine, as it relates to what YOU want to do with it.

Should be pretty simple. :)

Shop tractors
Once you choose which tractor fits your needs best
Shop for the best dealership of that brand.

I can count the trips to the dealership after warranty on one hand for all the brands I have owned over he years. For me having the best fitting machine takes priority and always will.

I have news for that Kubota salesman, there are plenty of people out there that could break a Kubota (or any brand) tractor in a heartbeat.

Yea, let Eric give it a try:laughing:

We all know that if Jesus had a tractor, it would be a John Deere—probably a 4020.
It’s a fact...look it up.
