Hey - you need not feel the least bit "small" about this situation. They are being honest and don't want to screw things up. Imagine how you would feel if they DID help and suffered a serious relapse or even croaked.

I remember that after a barium meal, tears streaming down my face and teeth marks in the toilet seat, my description at the time was giving birth to a cannon ball.

You ain't seen nothin' yet...wait until the first BM after a hemorrhoid operation. Ever pass a football wrapped in barbed wire?

... 'Sorry, I can't do anything for a while, I just had heart surgery', it makes you feel pretty frickin' small.

:ashamed: :(

Try seeing someone in the corner of your eye while your looking under the hood of your car and asking them if they could give you a hand, then when you look up you see that they only have one arm...

Every day is a good day. You just have to keep it in perspective.

That would be the help I would expect from a young person today,, anyways,,
if they do ANYTHING,, they do it with one hand,,

I was taught otherwise when I as about 10 years old,, I was helping a neighbor,, and using "one hand",,
he then told me loudly,,,

"Boy, if you are going to help someone,, always use BOTH hands!!
I don't care if you are just handing someone a screwdriver,, get your hand out of your pocket,, and have BOTH hands ready to work!!"

That stuck with me all my life,, and my daughters know not to show up to help,, and only use one hand,,,

I was thinking the same....
It can't be forever.

Agreed on the kids with hands in pockets, it's so silly.
And its intentional which makes it even dumber.
But their senior citizens often have other problems in "doing stuff" (different, but the same result).

You are lucky that neighbor offered a simple life lesson, and lucky that you were receptive at that moment.
There has to be thousands of times wisdom is offered but you're "not receiving" at the moment it was given.

I grew up the same. NEVER hands in pockets. People who shuffled while walking dragging their feet would drive my dad crazy

I’ll turn 68 in a month or so and at this age I figure no matter what I have going on with my health I’ll ALWAYS know someone personally or with loved ones who have REAL health issues.

I’m grateful every day.

I would drive your Dad to crazy and back. When I was a young buck, I fell 40 feet, broke D*mn near every bone on the left side of my body and spent 6 months and several surgeries in a 1/2 body cast. 10 years later I was on my motorcycle and T-boned by a station wagon. Spent 3 months recovering And learning how to walk again. Now at 65 I’ve been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
I drag my feet, because it’s the only way I can walk. They give me grief at my job, that they know I’m coming ‘cause they hear my feet dragging. But it beats sitting in a wheelchair or scooter. I still mow 1/4 acre with a “push” mower ( ok it’s self propelled) but it drags me around the yard and the exercise is good for me ( or so the DR. Says).
5 years ago I had shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff, and to relieve shoulder impingement, that was the worst pain I have ever dealt with. On a qualifying note, the other 2 times they kept me in the hospital with a morphine drip ( that will take the edge off a lot of things lol). On the shoulder, they sent me home the same day, and when the nerve block wore off, I wished I had a morphine drip or pump.
