Musk is a brilliant engineer. Other wise he is not much of a businessman.

Well, Renze we won't try to "sell" you a pickup truck, but my Silverado fits my needs. Our other vehicle is a Chrysler minivan. Both do very well for what we need them for.

Yes i read you... If i got a US gallon for the money i pay for a liter of fuel like you guys, my vehicle choice would probably be different too. Because of the high road tax and fuel cost, a 10 year old 7 series or X5 BMW is dirt cheap here, people who can afford the tax (either monthly or by excise on fuel) want a new one, people that can afford to buy a 10 year old, cant afford the tax and fuel.

However, given the worldwide political and societal tide regarding fossil fuels, it is inevitable that the trend now seen in Vans in the USA (Euro style, albeit with the engine thats top of the line in Europe, as standard engine in the USA) will spread out into pickup truck land within the decade.

What we are getting here in Holland is that they want to ban the sales of cars with internal combustion engine from 2030 onwards.... Most people cant even afford a new electric car. Anyways, with this happening in Europe, its inevitable that the next US president (which will probably be a far left one) will try to tax you guys out of your pickup trucks... 🤔

I don't think these particular jobs ever left. Pickup makers know they would lose more in customers than gain in profits.

If I could buy a foreign pickup with 6 wheels and not a cab over I probably would. American products aren’t nearly as good as Americans think they are.

I'm not saying it's logical. Back in the day, 70% of broken down motorcycles along the road were Harleys. Yet the owner wouldn't be caught dead on a rice burner.

The diesels probably don’t need them. The 6.0 gassers could benefit from 4.10 gears. I’ve got a GM pickup for the 90s with 5.10 gears.

I still think the cost or availability of fuel will have a bigger impact compared to taxes.
In Holland, of every Euro we pay for fuel, more than 50 cents goes to the government in excise duty and VAT. A next Democratic president will most likely be a far left one that wants America to pay their "fair sare" to save the planet, after Trump who pulled out of the Paris climate treaty...

Not that i agree with that, its just that i see that a lot of unwitting urban Americans are shifting to the extreme left as well...

Whenever America gets gender neutral toilets, people in Europe start whining about it too... whenever Europe thinks to save the world by burning fossil fuel in an electric power plant instead of straight in the vehicle, a movement in America will follow....

For what its worth, i got a complaint from one of the two ladies at work (among 50 men) for taking a dump on the ladies pot when the gents pot was occupied. I said i sat down to pee, which qualifies as gender neutral to me. She didnt have anything to say to that 😁👍

You must have had it changed because I don't think a 5.12 was available since about 1976, and the 4.56 disappeared close to 15 years ago. I'd be curious to know what RPO code is listed on your glovebox sticker.

It’s an HD truck a now sadly discontinued line and it’s a stock rear end. Mine has the Dana 80 that’s actually a 5.13 not a 5.10. IMG_6924.JPG

....thats something i wouldnt dare try to say that on here, as one of the 5% non-american members.

Funny thing is that a guy in a BMW, Audi or Merc is a boaster in the USA. While the general idea of people who drive an American pickup truck in Europe is that they have to compensate for a small manhood....

I’m in the American 95 percent but you’d have to be blind to ignore the outstanding reliability of foreign automobiles. The Japanese make the best small diesel in the world and Germans have had the best engineers since at least the 30s maybe earlier. You can flame me if you want but I’d love to see a list of products where the American designed and built version is the best. Probably a pretty short list.
