Wow, I thought I paid too much for my .410 Rem 1148 a decade ago at $450. I'd seen 'em on GB for less, but wanted another "humpless Auto-5" as one might call it. No friction sleeve to reverse when switching .410 loads. I did get ribbed and bead-only barrels, but both are FC. ~$1K now, but wouldn't insist on where it or my next buy was made. Principle yes, but I won't buy enough SGs to save a job.

"Why don't they make ___?" is worthy of its own thread.

I have my grandaddy's 11-48 twelve gauge. That recoil operated semi auto kicks like a mule.

I did a home brew refinish job on it 40 years ago. The original varnish had turned to goo and it had surface rust all over when I got it. I stripped the wood and used several coats of tung oil on that. Cleaned the rust off with a gray scotch bright pad and used a cold blue on the metal. Wood still looks great and the metal has turned to a brown color.

Love that old model; including the old Remington model 11.
Oh, BTW, I have a fairly good technique for refinishing gun stocks; it's pretty labor intensive, but it results in a beautiful finish. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll post it.

Are US made 410 shotguns still being made in the US, who makes them and what do they sell for? I know knowing about this type of gun.

What is the best price you can find for a US made .410 shotgun and how does it compare to gunbroker?

I just looked online at stuff I'd normally look at, and nothing sticks out as being stupid. The reality is you also have to know the market and what people "think" they can get for a gun.

Generally when I buy online, I use my local state firearms internet forum (classifieds) and have had no issues with Armslist (just have to know how to smell a scam a mile away if your shipping and it's not a FTF). Gunbroker I've found generally isn't the cheapest unless you look long and hard and come across somone wanting to get rid of something. I see gunbroker as being a "premium" because for shipping across state lines, there is a STRONG indentification process so you generally aren't going to be scammed.

Look on Guns of America or Gun Broker. Marlin makes a nice .410 lever action. Few hundred dollars or so. I have one and really like it.

I like 410's to, mine is a 55+ year old single shot Stevens, though in rough shape nowadays it's my go-to squirrel gun. Someday soon I need to update and upgrade to a 410 simi auto with 5 round clip, so that leaves Made in USA out. But I want something to combat these newer faster moving invasive wet-back squirrels where a one shot one kill no longer works.......

Oldpath squirrel/rabbit, vermin hunting back as a young boy was the greatest thing.

That's exactly what I'm looking for, for whatever reason. It's not like I need another shotgun, I already have 2 12's, 2 16's 2 20's... and the 28 gauge NEF which is my truck gun during bird season.
I have my grandfather's old 20 gauge Stevens 94, with the etching of the hunter and bird dog; then I bought a 12 and a 16 to go with it. The .410 has turned out to be an elusive creature which is why I've turned to the auctions. The night that I posted this I had stopped bidding on one when it hit $140... after tacking on shipping and FFL fees it would have been close to $200.

I now have a bid in which I may win on a tired 94H which may turn out to be a dog, but I will only have $70 tied up in it if that turns out to be the case.

I Shot a fair amount a grouse back in the day with that 410, bought it off my BIL back around 1967 for around $15.00, it has a special meaning to me now. I only have a pump 20ga and this 410, use to have a 12ga but I'm all done with them, to much kick, when I shoot skeet I like 20ga, I can shoot for hrs and not have a sore shoulder.
