540 PTO extension

My first post. Bought an acreage last fall and purchased a 4010 that has been great so far. Need info for two things on my 4010.
First: Went shredding Saturday and things worked just great until I bumped 'er into 2nd gear. About 15 minutes after doing so, I twisted my PTO extender (see photo). Where can I find another one of these? I googled "pto extender and get only a male/female ended part which I don't need. This is about 5.5 inches long and has a tightening bolt in one end to expand it into the PTO. Since I have a front-end loader there's an extra box on my PTO that makes this extender necessary.

Second: I noted on the gauge a line with "PTO." Does this line on a 4010 mean the Maximum for PTO use, or does it mean to "set your rpms here," when using the PTO for maximum torque." Have asked a half-dozen people over the age of 60 and I got a half-dozen different answers to this question.

Help with these two queries would sure be appreciated!

Hi Vangreenacres. By gauge I assume you mean tachometer. The line marked "PTO" indicates the speed to which the engine must be revved to achieve the requisite RPM (usually 540 or 1000) at the PTO. I'm sure that someone will be along soon to help with the extender question. Good Luck.

Would appreciate some pics of where this PTO extension is used. Looks to have been some serious torque to twist it like that..

When you kicked it into 2nd gear, do you suspect that overloaded the extension shaft?
What is the shredder brand/model?

"Requisite" is the debatable part that probably leads to getting a 1/2 dozen different answers.

Thanks for the input; will try to get some photos tonight or tomorrow along with shredder brand/model as you requested. Had the machine in 2nd gear for about 10 minutes and suspect the overload came when I hit some heavy thistles. I did not have the rpm's up to the "PTO" mark on the tach (as evidenced by my lack of knowledge as to what the line meant) but was close to it. What makes this extension unique (meaning I can't find it anywhere) is the bolt up the center that "expands) the open end to fit snugly into the PTO. See additional photo.

Thanks for this lead--it's the best alternative I have seen. Will send it to my brother-in-law for his inspection--it was his extension I borrowed. I'm guessing if I don't find the exact duplicate that I'll have to give him my wife back (his sister).

I believe that, that style of extension was used with the farmhand brand loaders when they used a pto pump for the loaders.
i have no clue where you could find one now.
