It does make you wonder about the other lesser known brand's if they take trade-in's..? Thinking it would be on the size of the dealers and their wanting to have a bunch of old tractors sitting around. Sure a lot of dealers would surely want "new trade-in's" for sale but along with that comes the junk too.!!!!

Unfortunately, a few of us have discovered he isn't always 100% accurate in his statements, he does not like to be criticized and their policies seem to change quite often. He hasn't answered a direct question here in months.

RK Tractor Guy absolutely does have an attitude.
No response ..... may actually mean that "RK Tractor Guy" is no longer THE.... "RK Tractor Guy".

I'm afraid RK tractors may be close behind him.

I don't think he's gone anywhere, but more than likely busy with ramping up the sales and service network. They definitely are going through some growing pains, but as fast as they are entering the market that should be no surprise. Like I said above, my local store has gone downhill since opening and is constantly advertising "help wanted" with steady turnover. When it first opened there were a lot of eager employees. Now it seems like the most of the employees are uninformed and lazy. The good ones have moved on. If a local store was being run well and had tractors, I would take a look at them.
Here's an example of why I wouldn't buy a tractor from them at my store. Went there on a Saturday, mid morning, to buy a rotary cutter for someone. The RK "Loader" (his name tag said Loader) met me out in the fenced in area where I pulled my trailer to have loaded. We stood there for a minute, as he stared at the cutter. I finally asked "where's the fork lift?" and he said "I can't operate it, and there's no one here that can". Seriously? Saturday with the place packed with customers and they have no one to operate a fork. He said we could lift it by hand. Uh, no.

Back on topic, I would keep the shuttle shift. There are pros and cons for both shuttle and hydro, but it sure would not be worth the expense to trade either one for the other (to me). I have a shuttle in another brand, and especially for loading I sure would not want to give up any HP. Not a big deal to me operating a lever to go back and forth vs a foot pedal. I like having my feet free to move while driving the tractor grading, mowing, tilling, etc, not tied to a pedal. There's no end to the debate between the two types, but I don't think there is a "right" or "wrong".

Good points! Just a note on having feet tied to the hydro pedal - the 55 hydro has cruise and load sensing standard and they work quite well in my experience. I can set both on and not mess with the pedal, and the load sense will automatically slow the hydro drive if the engine loads up enough to drop RPM.

Yes, there are pro's and con's - I am just the opposite, I want my hands free to steer and operate the loader ... not having to shift gears or directions while driving. I like having the pedals.

Rk does take trades on tractors they have sold, that is a universal policy (unless it changed VERY recently) that some RK Salesmen seem to be unaware of. However, when they quote you it isn't done by anybody at the local store, information is passed to RK Tractor Management (actually, I believe the man is the RK Tractor Guy himself) who put together a quote and pass it back to the local salespeople. If the local store says they don't do it ask them to reach out to their regional sales manager to double check.

Why would anyone trade in a tractor? Sell it and make yourself another three or four thousand.. I have never traded in anything, if you do you loose you're shirt..
