Storm Area 51

I'm convinced the reason we have the politicians we do, as demonstrated by how serious some of the replies to this thread are, is so many people can't recognize a fraud, a con, a joke when they see one.

At best, maybe a few believers (I'd guess 1/100th of 1% (.0001) of the 1.5 million) and a couple reporters will actually show up to see what's going on -- Prediction: nothing is going on.

I'll agree with those numbers and that thought.
It's been over 30 years ago that I was near that area,at that time they where quite serious about any trespassing.
I'd be surprised if that's changed much.
I would expect that the few that do show will not be pleased with the reception that they get.
I would love to be some wheres out of the way to observe any interaction

I hope your prediction is right on. However, I would take issue with your first statement; I have no doubt that the whole thing was intended as a joke. My serious reply was prompted by my pessimistic nature...in that the respondents more than likely run the whole gamut of understanding it as a joke to taking it seriously, or at least wanting to be there for the action, whatever it may be.

I would bet a few hundred. How many would actually maybe try to force their way in? I would bet maybe a few dozen. How many would actually get shot? I dunno. Maybe less than lethal means could be used... but I wouldn't bet my life on it.

It sounds like natural selection in progress if they everyone got shot. And there’s no way they’re going to let them in.

I've had a mild curiosity about the place for a few years. The base has no fence. The place is patrolled by "camo dudes" who are not military but are private security and most employees there arrive there via Janet Airlines which is a nickname given to these flights out of Vegas. They also have these non descript buses that take people in and out. At one time there was a guy Chuck Clark? that had a device that detected the surveillance electronics hidden out in the desert mostly buried in the sand. The problem is they were on public BLM land far from the border. They were curious and would dig them up, makes notes and rebury them. They found many and then took a news crew out there. Well Uncle Sam didn't like that even though they had not broken any laws. They claim he stole one and seized a bunch of his property. In the end it was pretty much dropped. Anyway there's a couple youtube channels of guys that go out near the border on a frequent basis. One YT video of maybe a year or so ago was a couple live streaming one of the buses that was stopped in Racheal. Before he gets out of town the Sherriff shows up.

Just like on an internet forum, it's difficult to tell when people are joking when not dealing with them face to face. I would think that no one would seriously believe that anarchy is the ideal form of government, but we have people bearing the anarchy symbol who do their best to create chaos. If it's all a big joke, they sure are committed to it.

Yeah I'm curious to know what there but not enough to face deadly force as the sign says...like the old saying goes didn't curiosity kill the cat.

Heather Wade, who took over Art Bell's Midnight In The Desert radio show after his final retirement first advocated this idea a few years ago. Art, and everyone else who opined on this all suggested strongly that it was a bad idea and shouldn't be tried.
Way back in the late 80's - early 90's there was a guy in Rachel named Glenn Campbell who put out a newsletter called the Groom Lake Desert Rat which covered matters dealing with the secret site and the land grabs that the government took to restrict public access to high peaks where the base could be observed. This was of course long before the internet and Google earth can get you satellite views of all the details.
They had placed motion detectors on BLM land and someone did discover that they could use a frequency counter to locate them which always got a swift response from Wackenhut security (the cammo dudes in the white Jeep Commandos), and was probably partly responsible for the land grab to keep people further away.
Since Bob Lazar and Phil Corso have come forward with their stories, there probably isn't anything of major import happening there anymore as it's too mainstream now.

I read somewhere that the Air Force put out the 'aliens' story as a coverup for the fatal crash of an experimental, secret plane there. In an era when claimed flying saucers sightings were often in the news.

More relevant to today's news - the true story of a German family who all died of exposure in a remote area near Death Valley. The had a map showing a vast bombing test range as a 'military base'. (China Lake). It was assumed that when their car broke down miles from help, they walked there expecting help from perimeter guards like at a European military base. Instead they found nothing but vast open desert, not even monuments to mark the base border. A determined search-n rescue guy went in years later looking for evidence of what happened and wrote an interesting account of it.

Hope these present idiots don't try sneaking in some back way just to end up like that! It sounds like some of them are flat-earth type personalities and could be stupid enough to try that. In July. In the desert. With the same result.

They have all kinds of crowd control weapons, microwave, thumping noise that make you vomit and stuff like that, that I betcha they would be just itching to try in real life. Especially, if it's on their turf.
