Probably there are a lot of folks who think the JEEP nameplate makes the machine special.

i had two Willys Jeep station wagons early on, 1950's models, they were OK for the time and anyway all I could afford.

At one time my Dad bought a J10 Gladiator, it sucked oil through the valve stems of the OHC engine from day one and the transmission would pop out of second gear on deceleration also from day one. He quickly put in a Buick V8 and a Ford truck 4 speed then had a much better vehicle.

A few weeks ago I test drove one with the Rubicon package and most of the available options. It was pretty nice... but for me it was just to small inside and if I wanted to take the dog with me I would basically have to completely remove the rear seat so there was enough room for him. .. that was the deal breaker for me.

I waited two years to buy a new Jeep pickup. I've owned a Jeep of one type or other most all my adult life. HOWEVER - not this new pickup design. I will repeat what has already been said - ONE UGLY DUCK.

My 2018 Ram 2500 Power Wagon ( "the" Taco Wagon ) is not the most beautiful vehicle on the road. However - it's not BUTT ugly either.

JMHO - they didn't just miss the boat - they aren't even in the same universe. It's a real shame - I was prepared to drop a BIG wad of cash on a new Jeep pickup.

I'm so very happy with my new Power Wagon. It's BIG and a real fun vehicle.

?

I had an employee 30+ years ago with a JEEP pickup...

I think they called it the Scrambler.
Even before that. I had a 66 Kiaser Jeep Gladiator. I'd was a tank and a half.
FCA uses my area for road testing prototypes. I've been seeing the new Jeep pick-ups for over a year. Granted they disguise them, but undoubtedly they were Jeeps.

The original Willys pickup goes all of the way back to 1947. Back then it was tough but simple. While time will tell about the first, the new Jeep certainly isn't simple.
My father had a '62 which he bought new and worked the dickens for 13 years before upgrading to a 1975 power Wagon (which he dumped in two years after rebuilding both front axles... remember the 12,000 mile warranty?)
I had a chance to by that '62 a couple of years later and have always kicked myself for passing on it... it ran good, was still rust free and would have been a great truck to play with, plow my driveway and park in the barn until I had money to restore it.

There is only one thing I would like to have changed on the Power Wagon. I tried to get this change on the Ford F-150. I took a clean bright white sheet of computer paper and smeared a blob of driveway mud on the paper. Let it dry. Took it with me when I went in to purchase the 2005 F-150. Asked the salesperson if they could match that color. After he quit laughing - he said - sure, for around $1500 they could match that as a custom paint job.

I didn't even ask on the Power Wagon. The dark blue metallic fleck paint is real pretty. It sure shows the dust and mud though.

The F-150 is Arizona Beige. It masks the mud and dust pretty well.

I guess there HAS to be something to complain about. Otherwise - the Power Wagon is one fantastic vehicle.

I've seen one new Jeep pickup. It was a light medium grey. Not a bad color at all.

The tire shine and street tires don't help the looks of that new Jeep pickup.
