That is not one thing... that is several things.

I see cultivator attachments for something from the 50's, there's a seed or fertilizer hopper and some other stuff...

Looks to be a corn binder. Cuts the corn stalks, wraps them in a bundle then ties twine around the bundle before kicking it out. The round box near the front of the wheel holds the balls of twine.

Edit: Looks to be fairly "recent vintage" as it is driven via PTO shaft. Most early ones were ground driven off of a wheel. I'm not what you would call "recent vintage", however.

I found a picture of another corn binder and they match up.

Do people rebuild these , search for parts ? Is there any point to advertise this machine or should I just send it to the scrap metal yard?

Somebody out there would love to have that rusty hulk of scrap metal as decorative 'vintage farm yard art' at 3x scrap value... try that and if no sale in a time frame you're comfortable with, scrap is always an option.

Do you know if the corn binder was a generally used technique to harvest corn or was it only for making ornamental sheaves of corn for resale?

Was this the best method at the time for the small farmer to get the corn out of the field and into a barn where it could be further processed?
