A lot of people think that pineapple on a pizza is sacrilege but I enjoy it also. One of my favorite sandwiches is Peanut Butter/ Banana and Honey (or syrup). Some folks just dont get it.
I usually do Peanut Butter & Banana -or- Peanut Butter & Honey, I'll have to combine them and see.

a grilled cheese with colby jack cheese and sliced turkey on whole wheat
Turkey to me is rather flavorless, so I use ham instead on my sandwich. Haven't tried roast beef yet, but I plan to smoke a Brisket in a couple of weeks and will have to try that on grilled cheese and hope it doesn't ruin the brisket.

Favorite grilled cheese is...grilled provolone with bacon and tomato on rye or pumpernickel.

You'd better stock up on Brisket...price is skyrocketing because the rest of America has just caught on to that secret(BBQ).

I did some work for a cool store and that was what the owners told me, there was something about prepping the apples first, don't know what sort they are but we have some biggish orchards closeby.
If that is the case it would probaBLY account for tasteless fruit.
They may do things differently down under, but we store a lot of apples at work (hundreds of thousands of bushels, all for other people) and very few are kept past 9 months.
At this point in the year (late summer) we need the space for the next year's crop and the people who pay us to store their apples need the space to store more apples for this year.

There are fresh eating apples, cooking apples and cider apples. Keeper apples and eat them now apples. Apples that serve one purpose do not always serve the other. My old mid 1800s orchard produces from late August until February. February being Grimes Golden.

In the past 2 years I've planted 12 different apple cultivars, but of course none have started producing yet. One is Grimes Golden; I hope that it doesn't take until February to ripen as we generally have 3 feet of snow by then.
That would make them easier to pick though, no ladder needed.

I graft onto standard rootstock and the general rule of thumb is to get a puppy when you plant them. When the dog dies is about the time you get apples. But I do have varieties that have started after 4 years. Dwarfs produce faster.

I probably should clarify, my Grimes Golden stay on the tree until February and are edible at that time. A little punky but still good.
