Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

On subject... One of the 2 best tools I've ever had I got from HF. One is their Icon 1/2" drive torque wrench which indicates torque in both clockwise and counter clockwise directions, not every bolt I torque is right hand and the HF hydraulic 3 jaw gear puller. I use the 10 ton puller to remove rusted on disc brake rotors. Beats beating on them, or heat or liquid wrench or all the mentioned methods. Put the puller on the disc (takes 2 people because it's a bit cumbersome) a couple pumps of the handle and wham, the disc comes right off and it it's really frozen on, the puller has enough power to break the disc (which I've done in the past and then it lets go. What used to be an afternoon cuss job now takes about 5 minutes. Used it on harmonic balancers and alternator pulleys too.

I see HF never has them on sale. Great tools, especially the puller.

For this question?

No clearance. The shredder impeller sits an inch or two behind the engine and mounts direct the the engine output shaft. I'd have to find a way to move the engine forward a few inches to use something like that.

How about a 1/8 bushing to take up the space and make an over sized key to mate up to the shredder. The bushing can be split for the key, just another idea.

^^^ That's what the machined kits I mentioned above are. But that doesn't answer the question of whether or not they'll handle the stresses of a chipper/shredder.

For those that jumped on the Hercules tool wagon, they just put out a coupon for 20% off Hercules batteries.

Also, the 30% off up to 5 items under $10 is up, but only good for today and tomorrow.

There are a couple of other Hercules coupons, including one for $10 off any kit.

There is only one way to find out,try it out and see. I don't see why it would not work.

The coupons are getting as complicated as long division.

Generally speaking for my purposes HF tools are just fine. With that said I am getting ready to pull the plug and buy a Lathe to make pens. I'd looking for honest opinions about the HF Central Machinery 10 in. x 18 in. 5 Speed 1/2 HP Benchtop Wood Lathe. Can anybody help?

Search 'lathe' in this thread, but I seem to recall some complaints about stability and possibly safety.

I think it’s pretty decent for a beginner. All bench top lathes are lacking in stability. A beginner would be a lot better off with a cheap lathe and more sharpening equipment and accessories vs a better lathe without much else.
