grillo 85D w/tiller and zanon mower deck. Gravely Professional 12
I have a survivalist mentality always have. In my world 2 is one , one is none. When all of the two wheel tractors I had were vintage I had 4 at one time 2 Bradleys, a Bolens and a Gravely when I moved in 2008 due my job going away . My gravely died and I had to down size because of lack of room l got to the new place I had a rear tine tiller and a choremaster one wheel tractor. I sold the one wheel in 2012 to help fund a new 2 wheel tractor when the P O.S. tiller died. I bought a new Grillo G85d in 2012 , the first modern walking tractor I had ever had. And tried to talk myself out of the 2 is 1 mentality. Yet I was always looking. Well when I was given a Gravely professional 12 and got a mower deck I am much happier with 2 two wheel tractors. Anyone else have more than one 2 wheel machines ?

I don't but my brother has four last time I checked, he hooks one to a rake, one to a tedder, one to a hay conditioner and a 120hp 2wd to a 575 NH baler with a kicker and a wagon behind it..

He does the whole haying thing by himself so it's easier to just change tractors and not implements..

I got a PRO 12 for free some time ago. The drivetrain went out of it, costing me a fortune. Surprised, considering how heavy they are built. I too believe in having redundancy, but NOT in the same things. It gives you more options and some overlap. Besides you take a good part off one, and now that one doesn't work.

I just have too much stuff and sold all my Gravely stuff and went with a Steiner with ten attachments! Had two of those for a while though.

We have three Ford 600s and a Case 955. Dad bought only one new tractor and used it all his life, 1955-56 Ford 600 we farmed 160 acres with it. We have four 4WD; two with cabs. Th 2WD are used as much or close to the others.

I thought about keeping my BCS 605 when I bought my 853, but traded it in. It would have been nice to have the extra one.

I have two Gravely's. One has a 30" brush hog on it and the other has a 50" deck. I had a Pro-16 with a 50" deck for a while (so I was at 3 Gravely walk behinds) but sold it to buy a zero turn. I didn't really like the Pro-16 (the handles were higher than on my old 5465 and 5665 machines) and I wasn't a fan of the twin-cylinder Briggs on it. Strangely though, I do like the look of the machine and I'm considering buying another one that I came across locally.

The reasons that I have more than one Gravely are pretty simple: 1) Backup - if one dies, I can use another one if I'm in a pinch; 2) I'm lazy - even though Gravely implements can be changed, sometimes that's a pain, so I like having a machine dedicated to a task; 3)Efficiency - sometimes you need two different implements for a job so it's easier to have two machines ready to go and get the job done in a more efficient manner.

I do have several other implements for the Gravely's, but rarely use them. I have a 48" Gravely blade, but I also have an FEL on the Deere. I have a Gravely rotary plow and a tiller/cultivator, but I also have 2 Ariens rear tine tillers. I was looking for a Gravely snow thrower, but decided against it since I already have a nice little singe stage snow thrower as well as a 72" blade for the Deere. I had to pat myself on the back for deciding against accumulating more "stuff".

One thing I will say is that if you're going to have "multiples", it makes more sense to have multiples of the same brand so things are interchangeable. In other words, BCS is a nice machine, but I'm not sure that I'd buy a BCS if I already had a Gravely. I'm sure you BCS owners would beg to differ though!

Seems to me that some people are talking about tractors with two wheels, and others are talking about tractors with four wheels, two of which drive?

I bought the adapter nose, so I could use the more available older attachments with the PRO 12. Although the tractor turned out to be rather large and cumsersome for some.

You mean that people are posting replies that aren't applicable to the original question??? I've never heard of such a thing on TBN!

I have a smallish BCS (730 something?) with a tiller and a chipper/shredder I bought later that the BCS will barely drive if the limbs get too big. I should sell both and probably will.

I have Grillo 107d that I like a lot better. Larger, more powerful. I have a flail mower and sickle bar mower for it. I wish I could use the sickle bar mower but my ground is just too uneven to make any real progress with it.

When I retire I will probably get a larger Grillo with a diesel, or maybe a 4 wheel tractor of some sort.
