Ice Melt

^ Most of the time I don't need to go anywhere, so I don't find much need for it. I can usually wait until it melts naturally in a few days.

Statistics are well above my pay grade but I am quite certain the people who compile and interpret climate data will be very competent in subjecting their data to statistical methods.

Those are some specific predictions...

Statisticians will never produce a specific value, but a range of outcomes. That, in and of itself, shows what kinda of analysis this is...and it wasn't done by anyone with statistical predictive abilities...

I agree the predictions may or may not be accurate. But the ice IS melting and ice doesn't care about statistics. It is what it is.

What workable solution do you endorse? Your first sentence states the root cause of whatever problem the planet has, yet very rarely do you ever hear it mentioned. Generally people will either deny that we have a problem; or they will say 田hanges need to be made... starting with that group over there!

Either humans will control their population or Mother Earth make the adjustment and it won't be pretty.

I think talking about population control is one super taboo.
Just keep buying those LED lights and electric cars. :)

Yes talking about it is not PC. Unfortunately I'm doubtful humans are capable of controlling their population. If we had a one-world government perhaps it could be done but it's unlikely that will happen anytime soon (if ever).

While I fo believe there is consequences from overpopulation and over use of resources I do not think this causes climate change.
Those that think we are causing climate change need to read up on Mars. It had a climate with liquid water and an atmosphere that climate change wiped away. This all happened without people, farting cows and fossil fuel.
Scientist say that the last ice age and the more recent mini ice age was caused by global warming. Must have been too many cavemen campfires and wooly mammoth farts.

I disagree. The greenhouse gases are being generated by burning fossil fuels to generate electricity to support over population ... it's a direct link IMO.

Statistically there is a far better chance of an asteroid hitting earth and eliminating life than ever seeing the climate slow kill life. Life seems to have an adaptive ability to the environment that has evolved over billions of years.

We're ok...

Yep we are.

And we damned sure don't need a one world government.

And if he really believes that nature isn't the biggest contributor, I like to see some real hard numbers from an active volcano,
I don't know who you would be able to believe in those .

When I think of all the gases and pollution sent up when Mt. Saint Helen blew her cork.
I do believe that one instance did more in a few days then man in a few thousand years.
Also the year with no summer, 1816 in New England from a volcano.
I'm not going to advocate completely unregulated pollution but it needs to be looked at in a more dollar and cents manner.

Funny that when that during the Roman Empire, they had gold mines in the Alps that are still buried so far under ice that nobody can get to them, and they grew wine grapes in Scotland that wont grow today except for genetically modified grapes. Funny that during this great warm period seems to be when the planet thrived tremendously.

What is the ideal temperature that the planet is supposed to be at? If we are too warm now because of global warming, how much cooler do we want to be?

Why hasn't any of the so called experts done a pros and cons to global warming? Wouldn't warmer temps around the planet increase rain and expand growing time for farmers up Norther where the soil is so much richer and better for crops?

And the biggest question is why does NASA have to lie and manipulate the data to prove something is happening if it's really happening?

Eddie, I'll try to reply to you with an appropriate amount of respect. I really do enjoy your posts on this site and find your knowledge of building and ranching super helpful. So I just can't understand why you would be disciplined and honest with those topics, but so prone to far right-wing conspiracy theories when it comes to climate.

Pincipia Scientific is a known climate change denial site. They have a clear agenda to intentionally discredit any evidence of climate change, and publish a lot of totally bunk stuff.
Principia Scientific International (PSI) - Media Bias/Fact Check

NASA may not always be perfect in their data or methods, but they use real data and science. Maybe if their budget didn't keep getting cut they could do even better.

Per your other statement earlier, there is simply NOT increased ice mass at the poles. There was some temporary increase in thin ice area coverage due to increased precipitation rates. Global ICE mass is decreasing rapidly, without question. we have the real data. Global mean surface temperature and ocean temperature is going up. We have the real data. C'mon man, research this stuff a bit more objectively, rather than latch on to the confirmation bias sources right away.

Our world's scientific community overwhelmingly agrees that this is a major problem and deserves some attention. A side benefit will be improved human health due to less pollution. We can create a ton of new jobs transitioning to clean energy sources, and solve the various engineering problems inherent in this necessary switch. Whats the downside? You might have to think about your energy use a little?

If human nature is a disease on this planet...why are we here?

Think about that and get back to me...

Anything in excess is unhealthy. In 1800 there were > 1 billion people on the planet. In 1927 that had doubled. Now there are almost 8 billion people, and that’s increasing exponentially. To think that we don’t have an impact is ludicrous.
