What kind of wood is that your cutting Gordon? Looks like you have a nice set up for processing and drying your wood.

A mixture - hard and soft maple, white and yellow birch mostly. I got that load in the shed today just before it started raining hard. Cut it on the trailer and run it thru the splitter and into the shed.

John it should be illegal to show that trailer off like that because of the anguish of jealousy it causes.

They must want to much for this old Fransgard winch, been side the road for two weeks. Looks like it must be atleast a 20 year old model. Fransgard has kept that cam engage design, mine a 07 model and that part is pretty much the same, just mine dont have legs. All newer models have a but-plate, I think thats better then legs.

If that was in my neck of the woods I'd be all over that. I'm running out of easy trees to skid out. Everything now appears to be down over the bank.

You can buy a new one for around $3000. Despite the fresh paint, the one which OP linked to has seen some hard use.

Where can you buy a new winch rated at 13,000+ lbs for $3000? I can find one rated for 7 or 8,000 # for that price, but the larger ones are $5000 and up.

Good point. The Norse 450 for $3195 Norse 450 3 Point Hitch - 40-90 HP is supposed to be suitable for a 40-90 HP tractor, but still is only rated for just over 10,000 lbs.

It has been fun! It also saves a lot of time and mess when I'm picking up donated logs for our local firewood donation program

We don't have a program like that on this side of the state as far as I know. It sounds like a good way to help folks !!

The excavator showed up. This is about an acre of clearing. About 35 trees mostly hardwood with a couple poplar mixed in. He’s got about 3 acres clear already. Now he’s giving me time to get them stumped and topped. These are done and ready for him to pile the tops and stumps. Have about this many trees to do on the other side of the farm.
