Used MX5800 rental - good deal?

Hi All,

We're going to a Kubota dealer today to look at a used MX5800 that was a farm rental. It has 260 hours on it with R4 tires. He said he would add a loader, 3rd function and load the tires for $29,500. What are your thoughts? He said he could get us a new one for about $1500-2000 more.

I noticed that Kubota's current offers will be changing September 1st. I wonder if we should wait until then.

i'd be asking about service record, the 50 hr fluid change, etc. price seems high. if those were the only options, i'd go new for that price difference.

$1,500-2,000 is cheap for a 7 year warranty.

Thank you for the info Big Bubba. We didn't think about asking for the service records. We asked the dealer about the new/used price difference and he said the number he gave us was wrong. $3k more. He told us this tractor was leased through a farm program, we would get the 0% financing and full Kubota warranty. Done deal! We bought it for a few hundred less than the originally quoted price.

$1,500-2,000 is cheap for a 7 year warranty.

Thank you hsell. Salesman was wrong and he told us the price difference from new was $3k. We would still get the warranty with this tractor. Dealer is delivering it this weekend!

That's seems high to me. About a year ago I paid $27,500 for my used (150hrs) MX5800 including installation of the third function valve. I still have warranty through 2021.

The hours don't bother me. If it has rear remotes, it is better. In the end, I am sure you will be happy with it. I really like mine.

We saw one for about the price you had listed, but it had an Ansung loader. I was a bit concerned about that and when a member voiced my concerns, we decided against it, especially since there was no 0% financing.

The tractor we purchased looked brand new and the dealer said it had been used to pull peach carts. The paint and metal looked really good and with them adding a new loader, bucket, switched the R1 tires to R4 loaded tires, and grill guard, it felt like we were getting a new tractor for $3k less with 0% and full warranty. We did get the price dropped a couple hundred while we were there and considering the tractors we had seen, we're pretty happy with it. Would have been happier if we had gotten your pricing, but we hadn't been seeing those numbers while shopping.

Now it's time to shop for attachments!

We weren't too far off from your pricing. We got our MX5800 for a little over $1k more than yours.
