Tractor
John Deere 300B
Tractor is a 1970's John Deere 300B.

So a hydraulic line underneath the tractor had a pinhole and was spraying fluid out. I replaced the line and bought hydraulic fluid. Replaced the line and filled up fluid. After repairing that I started up the tractor and the backhoe was working fine. When I went to move forward it feels like it goes in gear then the tires move slightly but then will not move but backing up works good. What could have happened???

I doubt the hose replacement has anything to do with the problem. I suspect the reverser linkage is not totally engaging forward.

I'm thinking possible air trapped somewhere. I had that on my loader with a hydrostat and I realize it's probably totally different. Trouble cleared itself in the course of trying to take pressure readings.

How much oil did you lose and how long did you run it when it was low on oil?

How would I bleed the air? I thought they self bleed through cylinders?

I was only on for maybe a minute when I realized the line was spraying and shut it right off.

I don't know how complex hydraulic systems work. I just got lucky.

I dont know either but you must have been correct! I had my dad come over to try and help me figure it out and when i went to show him it went forward. Now that is fixed but my radiator is cracked. Got to love how these things go. Haha
