And a semi auto is NOT an assault rifle.

Semi auto is more effective than any other option for hitting your target IMO (suppressive fire another story).

I can tell you for a fact that the only way I can be effective with a M-14 per hitting what I'm aiming at is in semi auto mode.

I've also considered a M1 Garand a "battle rifle" (AKA assualt rifle).

.

I cannot fathom that statement. Multiple targets...yes...one target...no way.

But on to more important issues...

The media is our enemy...make no mistake about that. I hear reports of "thousands of rounds found"... sheer drama reporting.

I just had over 5k rounds of .22 ammunition delivered. I used to shoot 20,000 rounds of rifle, pistol and shotgun ammunition a year in competition and practice (not including a lot of .22's I do not keep track of)

The assault rifle thing is to sell air time AND to disarm us.

I foresee a move to tax and license sale of ammunition used in assault rifles...it will grow from there. That also makes money for the government(s)...city/state/federal.

Over the last 15 years, I have been accumulating enough reloading supplies to last my lifetime ...I call it my shooting 401k plan. If you do not reload...it may be wise to consider learning and gearing up for it. Having a few guns with no paperwork is prudent as well. They can now be acquired legally so you are not committing a criminal act.

It is not a matter of IF it will happen...it is a matter of WHEN it will happen. It is not possible to control an armed population. And it is all about control and power.

Just my view from under my tin foil hat.

I use "clips" to keep my lovely hair in place.. :dance1:

With the shells, or without them?
Seriously, that's nothing more than people showing their need to feel superior. As I stated before, if "clip" is good enough for Savage Arms, I don't see how it can be such a wrong term.

When you shove the cartridges that are clipped together into your Garand what are you shoving it into? You are shoving the cartridges clip and all into a magazine. Hence it is called an en-bloc clip. The Clip and all 8 of the cartridges get put into the magazine. On a 98 mauser, you use a stripper clip to put cartridges into the magazine. as the clip is discarded and does not go into the magazine after the cartridges are stripped from it.

Magazines hold cartridges to be fed into the chamber of a firearm. Clips are one way to load magazines. You can also load magazines one cartridge at a time by using your fingers or other tools.

When you shove a magazine into the magazine well of a semi auto pistol, you are NOT shoving a clip into a magazine. The magazine well of of semi auto pistol WILL NOT hold cartridges for feeding into the chamber of the firearm. Only the magazine will do that. IT IS NOT A CLIP.

The Magazine has feed lips that retain the cartridges and allow for feeding them into the chamber. Clips DON'T have feed lips. None of them. Not even the en-block clip you shove into your Garand. The magazine in the Garand serves that function.

Now all of that said, you can call a magazine a clip if you want to, and you can call a setting hen a rooster if you want to, but you would be using incorrect terms. So hopefully you will now understand why it is such a wrong terminology Savage Arms notwithstanding.

Words have meanings, and using the correct words that are generally accepted by the community that makes and uses these products are no different in this case than any other product. As an example if you want to call a steering wheel on an automobile a flywheel, you can feel free to do so.

That others might correct your wrong usage of words does not mean they are trying to feel superior. They are just trying to educate you on the correct terminology. Whether you feel inferior or not is totally up to you.

All that I know is that people are way too picky... and what it says on the magazine for my Savage 99C. Just like many people are **** if somebody calls an engine a motor... yet I have yet to hear a 100HP Johnson an "outboard engine."

I get tired of hearing about ''Gun Violence'' I have owned guns all my adult life. I'm now 61 and my guns have never committed any acts of violence. Either my guns are defective, or these people are ignorant as to what the're talking about.
I tend to believe it's the latter

What about it doesnt make sense to you? If you want to hit a target, then you shoot 1 round at a time (semi- auto). Full auto is pretty worthless for putting bullets on target. Shoot them a few times and you will understand. Full auto is for suppressing fire only, unless you are maybe at 5 yards away...and I would still argue accuracy is more important (head shot vs spray the body).

That could all be, what I was saying is that a semi auto is not a military assault rifle.
