I only bring my firewood into the house to refill, it goes straight into the stove. Too many bugs on the wood in our area otherwise.

My father always brought his wood into the cellar one wheelbarrow full at a time. He believed that it held a fire longer that way.

Just looked to me that a conveyor would do away with most of that bend over work, I hate bend-over work.................

Or even just some sort of "chute" to slide them down.. repurpose an old kids slide or something..

I would love one to get firewood on my front porch. Otherwise I have to carry it an armful at a time down a 25' sidewalk, up 5 steps, and to the corner of the porch. I keep telling my wife that once I get older and more eccentric, I am building some sort of crazy conveyor belt to get firewood up to the porch.

I can drive right to my front porch with my loader and stack it in a rack I built there.

To me that would be a ideal situation for a 8' conveyor, and speaking of which, I cant seem to recall someone anyone here doing conveyor fire-wooding, maybe I'm the only one that thinks a firewood conveyor is handy dandy.....................

My neighbor has a conveyor & the same splitter I have. We used to run the Conveyor with the 2N then just have it dump on the ground. Then stack it later. But now I use the IBC totes & stack it right off the splitter. The conveyor would be nice if we used the dump truck to move the wood, sure beats hand tossing it up into the truck.

Maybe because it is not bone dry that way. Outside around here the wood levels off at around 15 to 18% moisture depending on species. In the house I have a few pieces there for looks and I just tested them and they are around 8 and 9% on my meter. YMMV Your Moisture May Vary.

Those of you in COLD climates where your winter moisture level drops must get lower moisture content? Our winters are in the 30s, normally just above freezing with an occasional spell of 20s and teens. When above freezing the air humidity is normally 80 to 100% so the wood does not get as dry as it must in some climates.

You are right, the splits land close to the stove.

The window frame ect. is steel, and the window is easy to take out and it doesn't get in the way.

When "I" throw the splits down, I get on my knees, so not much bending over for me. The truth is, my wife like throwing the splits down, so that's one job I don't do much of.

SR
I prefer my firewood stacked to 6' high, annnnd I forgot to mention, I hate knee work to!!!!!!!!!!!!! You must have the most accommodating wife on TBN..................

I was glad the furnace was designed to vent the cabinet out the roof vent and the design also starts the blower a few minutes before starting the burner to clear the cabinet of any gasses.

But yes, the installer and I will have a little visit.

I don't think a pressure test would have found that, only a gas sniffer would. I'm glad my wife's and daughters sniffers are good.

A firefighter downstate today wasn't so lucky.

Explosion in Farmington claims the life of firefighter, leaves others seriously injured

I'm having second thoughts about propane heat for backup.

Ummmmmmmm something wrong with that conveyor use, sounds almost like the Three Stooges way of stacking wood, I do like that (tote) idea though. If I had a outside woodshed that's how I do firewood, then bring it to the house as needed.

I was wondering if you was going to post that, what a sad day up there. This past year I gave up the idea anything for gas heat after hearing so many building explosions, hardy a month dont go by where I hear about something blowing up somewhere. I dont want to wake up out in the back yard at 3am, cook-stove is where I draw the line.
