Sound words... when you are preaching to the choir. What you have to face and deal with now is that this younger generation doesn't care for guns, doesn't care about the 2nd amendment, and certainly doesn't care to "compromise" with you. They know their day will come, and you and I will be gone.

Yep. Sound words that ring true.

A very good reason why we need to engage youth in these activities and show them the value, safety and respect for a very fun and useful tool. By the way, the younger generation that surrounds me doesn't fit most of those labels you applied. I know there are many youth in metro areas that do though.

You and I may be gone someday, but our values don't have to be.

I work in the HVAC industry, and a lot of times I'm held to getting something an engineer specified for a speciffic job. The issue is a lot of times they just copy and paste stuff that they really don't know anything about.

I can tell you the worst thing you can probably do as a business owner is to hire an engineer for your HVAC needs because the contractor then becomes held to want the engineer wants (and generally everyone is scratching their heads confused and then another bid goes out to be "valued engineered" Also found out that if the homeowner is an engineer, price on the job should go up:laughing:

Ironically enough, on one of my group forums on facebook today....

I agree, but look at the changes that have occurred in the last 20 years; Same sex marriage, legalized marijuana, the Patriot Act... We are dinosaurs, there is a new kid on the block, and gun rights don't seem to be important to them.

Combine the general careless/laziness of millennials and their ilk with the advent of VR and AI...they can do whatever they want without leaving their (or their parents) living rooms...they hardly want to get out in the woods with all the bugs and such...!

VR shooting sports can be as exhilarating the real thing...including tactical simulations etc...

We are a slowing shrinking demographic...

Engineers are like everyone else... some good, some bad.
I fall into both of those categories depending on the criteria. :D

I draw the line at book smart and field smart; the best of any professional has real field time in the "trenches".
A balanced blend of hands-on experience and a strong understanding of the science is best... IMHO. That way it is hard to be buffalo'd by one type or the other.

All of my "learning" was 21 years in the field as a tech, before the "engineer" title. Then a lot of self taught science background part. Plus I actually did pay attention in high school. yeah I looked a lot at the women, but I also listened in the science classes. Then as an "engineer", there was a bunch of seminars. Some good, some not so good. I remember one that had 721 powerpoint slides. DEATH BY POWERPOINT. Sheesh. The instructor read every one. Honest. Talk about a waste of time and money.
