I have no clue how you do this kind of thing (graphic manipulation) but am always amazed that people can do it. Oh, and to stay on topic: I do not own any AR types of rifle. Their looks are an assault to my aesthete senses.

Don't be to impressed.

I'm in my 50's and don't really know a lot about computers, but I try to learn. Per what I posted, I found a blank "template" that I knew would be cool to save for an occasion like this. I have a Mac desktop and just used this "template" in Keynote, and typed the words in. Pretty simple.

I got into "graphic manipulation" because I found out a long time ago a picture is worth a thousand words if there is an issue in the field. You can tell someone over the phone that something looks like *****, but it's much more effective if you can send them a picture of the ***** so they can see it for themselves. Below is pretty simple. Post a picture and ad your notes. For the most part I really am an idiot, so If I can learn how to do it, anyone can IMO.

I once felt that way, and couldn't understand the attraction. Then several of my coworkers started building or buying them, and talking them up; my boss shoots competition all across the country and has built multiple AR's. One day my cousin pointed out where I could get a lower for $40, and it was like putting a gun on layaway except I bought the parts as I had the money. Now that I've finally finished it after 2 years I've found where I could have bought the exact gun for $380... or about $60 less than I have in mine and I still need a rear sight.

Is it true that Colt is going to stop making the AR-15?

What Colt says:
Colt's Manufacturing LLC

The fact of the matter is that over the last few years, the market for modern sporting rifles has experienced significant excess manufacturing capacity. Given this level of manufacturing capacity, we believe there is adequate supply for modern sporting rifles for the foreseeable future.

On the other hand, our warfighters and law enforcement personnel continue to demand Colt rifles and we are fortunate enough to have been awarded significant military and law enforcement contracts. Currently, these high-volume contracts are absorbing all of Colt's manufacturing capacity for rifles.

You sound like a boring engineer. Rigid with no humor or spice allowed. Might want to enjoy life and spontanaity while you can... soon enough you will be rigid without a choice in the matter.

He's probably an engineer who wants to show off how smart he is and how dumb everyone else is.

The only reason people complain IF an engineer is writing something is because they are jealous that their own education is not as good as it could be AND just maybe the points being made by "A Bored Engineer" are good points and the person reading them can't understand them.

I call BS on anyone using the excuse of a Posting being made by an Engineer. :drink: If you can't make an intelligent comment then don't comment or don't complain that someone else just may have made a good point !

Just to clear my post up for those not listening... I too am a Retire Engineer, 30 years in that capacity and I don't give advice unless it's asked for.

Thanks for listening ! Have one on me ! :drink:

p.s. I don't like posts that go off topic, it screws up the thread to a point where the info in it is trash; but I cope !

I too am a retired Engineer. I don't get excited when anyone talks about me, of 73 pages of this thread there is a few times we got off course but for the most part it has a been a great thread.. If people don't like threads that go off course, they should read something else, no one is twisting their arms..

Buy what you want when you want it as long as it's what YOU want and you can afford it. $600 or so for a decent AR isn't a bad price. You spent $440 which is a fabulous price for an AR.

I made a mistake when I made a comment before... I don't have extra barrels, but for the price of AR's, I have extra AR uppers. Really cheaper that way IMO for a replacement barrel.
