To avoid ... Saw from the top not side - a foot or so from the tree ... then do same at tree.

This doesnt help. The chain is not a screw. Neither is the bar.

That is how you get it out, have had to back mine out several times before I got the hang of it. It works if not abused. It is a LIMBsaw or LIMBinator or LIMBhog!

The only thing I don't like is that the saw head cant be rotated side to side, up to a 90 degree angle from the tractor seat. Tractors are not as nimble as skid-steers, I'd have to modify that, then copyright it re-brand it re-name it, and call it the Nimble Limble.

Sorry to bring up an old post but would any of you guys with the Limbsaw or Liminator be kind enough to give me the part number and brand of the hydraulic motor on your saw please.

While you are posting model and part numbers how about and update on how the Limbhog has held up. Can't find much online regarding pricing but I am interested.

I just fired off an email to the company. I'll let everybody know what I hear back from them. I could certainly use something like that. Mile long, tree lined driveway and 80 acres of ancient Ponderosa pines. In the bucket with my chain saw while my son drives the tractor. Tried once - almost soiled myself. I think the neighbor, at 4.5 miles away, could hear me screaming. Brother - was that one of my more brainless ideas. At full bucket height - there I am - sitting in the bucket - never even stood up nor started the chainsaw - screaming like a wild banshee. Fortunately - my son didn't tip the bucket and just dump me.

Hmm - this fellow gets to work early. Aw - jeeze. TBN says the email is an invalid file. So here goes -

"Thanks for contacting us! The LIMBHOG IS $2,195.00 DELIVERED TO YOU?" I pay the shipping on this end. No tax. The unit comes fully assembled and ready to use. The receiver that attaches to your equipment is in the box as well as an extra cutting chain. It also comes with our 12 month unconditional warranty. You can attach the receiver directly to your Grapple bucket and hook the Grapple hoses up to the LIMBHOG. If I may be of more assistance, please call me at 8669546246. James Capers President

Soo... as I would guess. The open/close function of the WR Long third function would be forward/reverse power for the chainsaw.

I'm going to have to contact this guy for added questions.

- will the receiver attach to a standard grapple
- is the chainsaw unit made by Stihl

If you have not already contacted him and don't mind, can you ask the flow rate range, I didn't see that on his website. Also, shouldn't the return dump into the sump or is it intended to only run the motor intermittently?

I've reassessed this situation. I've got a manual pole saw. For now, at least, I'm going to continue to use it. No fuss, no muss, infinite flexibility - no added cost. It just takes more time and "time" I have a lot of. $$$$ - not so much.

OK, I'll give him a call and report back. I have way too many trees and trails getting overgrown for pole sawing.
