What boots did you settle on?
I went with the
Haix XR 200 boots. I got them on sale When Haix had a booth at the forestry and logging show that happens every couple of years not far from me. At the time, they had 2 models of boots with chainsaw cut protection: the XR200 and the Haix Protector Prime. The Primes were nice boots as well, but they had 9" uppers, compared to the XR200 7" uppers. The Prime did have a higher grade of cut protection (Class 2, vs the class 1 on the XR200), and I like the tread on their soles a bit better, but they were taller than were comfortable for me, so I went with the XR200. They come in medium and wide widths. The mediums fit me perfectly. The XR200 is as comfortable as the best pair of hiking boots I've ever owned (and I've owned a
lot of hiking boots, since I used to do quite a bit of backpacking). They are comfortable that I wear them just about every time I pick up a chainsaw, and sometimes just when I'm out for a walk in the woods.
Since I bought mine, Haix has come out with another model, the Protector Ultra. It has 8" uppers and the same upgraded cut protection protection and sole as the Prime. When my XR200s finally wear out, I'll try a pair of these on and see how they feel.

They aren't cheap, but they do go on sale from time to time, and they have good pricing when they show up at trade shows. They also sell
Factory seconds, as they become available (just cosmetic defects that don't affect function). If they don't have your size and model in a factory second, you can sign up for an alert and they will email you if they become available (just make sure that what you sign up for is one of the chainsaw boots, if that's what you are looking for.)
