Remember when you were younger? It seemed like you could run forever and never had to stop to "catch your breath". When I was working and had a chainsaw in my hands for 8 hrs per day 5 and sometimes 6 days per week, it got to the point where I didn't feel the chainsaw any longer. It was merely an extension of my arms. These were no light weight chainsaws either. I don't seem to get that feeling much anymore.

Yes them 50 year old McCulloch chainsaws will do that to ya...................

That sounds to me like your all done heating with propane and going back to all wood heat which is ok but and when you get to old for firewood work, theres always wood pellets and you still get that wonderful wood heat sensation.......

But I've not found any pellet trees on my place, you??

We was with that supplier since 1962! And I got tired of having to beg for a better price every year, as they were bought out a few years ago and things went down hill. NOW I have a local supplier that you don't have to beg, and there are NO hidden charges or fee's!

I like having that propane backup!

We were 100% wood heat until 2005 then bought the Tarm wood boiler with oil back up.
We only use the oil when going away for more than a day or if I am just too lazy [occasionally] or sick [rarely].
Sure beats having my buddy Dan come down twice a day to feed the old woodstove.

Not much talk on here about outdoor Wood boilers, if I think about it.

I always thought it would be nice to have a hopper fed stove and a machine to chunck up wood into bits small enough to feed the stove without going to a full on boiler fed system.

I would always want my house to have a heating system where when away, I can just flip a switch and set a thermostat.

I thought about getting a wood boiler, but got so confused when I started looking into it. Everyones is the BEST, and Stainless Is BEST, BUT Boiler Plate is also! Why a thread would be nice with OBJECTIVE owner information and experience.

But you understand that what I paid thousands of dollars for and the ONLY one I have experience with "is the BEST".

We got the Tarm specifically because of its gasification ability, which when in operation produces literally zero smoke from the stack.
It is solid cast iron and weighs in at 1500 lbs.
The older outdoor boilers are smoky rigs although I have heard that they are now available with gasification.
