Sad because the loader did not learn a thing. The next time could be the problem and hopefully there are no innocent victims.

The fact you can see how badly chafed/cut that strap is from the rub rail is why I generally dont use them anymore. I got similar wear on the dull bumper of my L3200 in a quick test haul. Decided it would be easier to chain rather than make sure my straps would never rub. Add in the fact a dull rub rail will do that when you loop to keep the hook from popping loose & it just reaffirms my decision.

Straps are usually faster, & I've thought about getting some with 2' of chain & latching hooks on the ends. But it's probably not worth it for only part time use.

I rarely haul anything big, but since a friend gave me some heavy duty straps with the chain ends, I have never used a chain and load binder again.

Re post 11376, my brother did that with a light sports car (non running and winched out of a shed) loaded tail first and snugged up hard on the front bar of the deck. However he only jack knifed it and put a massive dent in the right rear side panel on the family car.

I use straps 2 inch straps frequently, however I feared friction would eventually cut thru from sharp edges.

My solution was to cut wear sleeves that I position wherever there is sharp edges.
Old fire hose is great for that purpose.

The fire hose found in most commercial buildings is 1 1/2 inch and fit my 2 inch binders nicely.
