That all makes sense.

I guess not hand hewn it was not worth the effort to remove the wood.

You going to pour new concrete or leave dirt? That seems like it would of been better for broken concrete than dirt. Unless it was so bad nothing was level and hunks rocked.

I will put down gravel first, and then when I have money put in concrete down the center aisle and in the tractor bay. The new barn will have 2 10x12 stalls for horses, a 10x10 stall for a beef cow, a 6x10 stall for some goats or sheep, 4x10 chicken coop, 4x10 duck coop, 6x10 tack and feed room and saving the best for last, a 10x30 tractor bay. 12' clear span ceilings and two 9x9 overhead doors.

220 years old and lumber was not hand hewn.

I was really hoping the last snowfall of 14" last week would collapse the barn, but I think I had too much paint on the exterior. As far as I can tell, the paint was holding it up.

Wood is strong and old stuff was over built. That said, from your description I would not of put my stuff in it or been hanging out in there either.

I can see by your measurements that you are going to wish you would have built a larger building.

Demolition day finally arrived today. My 220 year old barn has been torn down to make way for a new barn. Took less than 30 minutes to reduce the barn to rubble. The old 2000 sq ft barn was too far gone to save. The new barn is 30x40 with a 30x30 lean to off the far peaked end. It痴 sad to see the old barn go, but I am excited about getting the new barn up. Bought a pole barn kit for the new barn and all materials have been delivered and are ready to go up.

That is a pretty barn! Too bad it had to go. I would have come for some lumber for sure!

Where did you get your new pole barn kit from?
