Finally but I agreed to go back to work just to help out when they get stuck which is next week!
Applied for a pension from the Government and it was granted, I receive the princely sum of $6.20pa (yes folks six dollars and twenty cents a year) but I do get a pensioner concession card which gives me discounts on electricity, water, rates, vehicle registration and a few other perks.
Started work when I was 14 (school deemed me a no hoper and intellectual midget) and became an electronic tech then off to university where I gained 2 BA's, 1 MA and a Phd in Forensic Psychology which is what I still dabble in.
Turned 70 mid December.
I am now officially a farm labourer, fencing contractor, stock feeder, horse whisperer, dog trainer etc etc.
Self funded retiree hence the massive pension from the Government but I have enough to buy a new car should I need one and generally do what I want, firefighting is not high on my list of priorities and I'll leave that for the young ones.
No debts apart from the missus who overheats my water cooled VISA card on 'bits' we could have never got by without (?)
So bum down and feet up for a few days while I appraise my newfound status.

Congratulations, it sounds like you've worked hard for it. I hope that you "live long and prosper", so are able to enjoy your retirement for a long time.

Our home is on the market and we are looking at a bigger house with more land just to ensure I stay active, I am dreading the move as our assets seem to double every 10 years, 20 years ago, no tractor, today 2 tractors and a heap of implements, caravan, a couple of trailers, 8 horses, 4 cars, a shed full of heavy stationary woodworking machinery, the list goes on.

You'll soon be so busy you'll wonder how you ever found time to go to work. I hope you enjoy your retirement. ☺

Congratulations and welcome to the club. I’ve been retired for 6 years and I’ve never looked back. You’ll be wondering how you ever managed to get things done when you were working as you’ll have no “spare” time. Good luck! Remember to keep your tractor wheels down.

Congrats... Now you can spend your time trying to remember names and looking for a place to pee. You'll also find out that if it don't hurt.. it don't work. Carpetbagger told you that.
