I don’t drink orange kool aid. Nobody else makes a machine comparable to my M59 so the choice is pretty easy. A Kubota Grand L is the nicest compact tractor built and that was the topic of the discussion. Why some of us don’t own a junk or more accurately a crude tractor is obvious. Now for the tougher question. Why don’t you own such a great tractor?

Statements like this need some qualification.
I purchased my Mahindra 3016 because they gave me $7000 on my trade of an old JD 750 compact. JD gave me $1500. Plus JD's comparative tractor would have cost me 10K more than I paid for the Mahindra. Mine is of Japanese origin made by Mitsubishi. So "price" was a strong consideration.
Secondly, you can mount the Mahindra from both sides. Something that was important to me in dense woods.
Thirdly, I agree with most posters here who think some of the Mahindras are well...unsophisticated. My controls for shifting are indeed the Fred Flintstone of the tractor world. I have no problem with the loader or 3 pt controls.
Lastly, I don' t regret for one second my purchase of the Mahindra. It has done everything I've asked of it.

This is a company that sources its machines from 3 places:India (so does JD), Japan and North Korea (Tym) Your LS is also a North Korea product. Mahindra's 2538 is a Tym and more sophisticated than its lower price point brethren.
Of all I have driven, I like the feel of the 2538 the best. The India machines are simply "brutes" and very "old time" stuff. Sloppily cast and quality control 2nd rate. Everything has its place I guess.

"and North Korea (Tym) Your LS is also a North Korea product"

North Korea product ????
Really????
You are in serious need of geography, history, and current events (trade restrictions) lessons!

Worth nothing on a trade you can drop it off here for free:)

I think Chappell Tractor might at least give me a little something for it, on a trade for a new Mahindra.
I have never bought from Chappell, but they seem like nice folks, and you could pick up my worn out, unreliable, old (250.9 hr.) L48 TLB from them.

or to have typed the "S" instead of the "N". Sort of "where'd I'd just put those keys"? Which apparently you've never done despite your avatar name.

My only experience with Mahindra is through my neighbor who owns two of them. His Max 28 is a solid tractor, but as noted the controls are crude, the seat is basic, the paintwork and fit/finish are at the bottom end of the spectrum, and it's very much a budget machine. He has run into the common problem with the Max, where moisture gets into connectors in the wiring harness (this is a tractor stored indoors). It caused the engine to die and not start because it took out the fuel solenoid. Took a while to get that diagnosed and fixed, and of course it can recur. Mahindra has not corrected this problem on new Max models, which blows my mind.

His two month old Mahindra UTV was out of service for 6+ months while Mahindra waited for a part, and they made no effort to escalate it or swap him into a new unit. The dealer was super frustrated. Keep in mind that these UTVs are made in the USA, and you would think someone could have pulled a part from the factory or somehow worked out a solution. Or just do the right thing, period. Nope, they just left the customer hanging and making payments on his dead UTV.

I could accept the Max situation because it is a low priced tractor and expected in that price range. I know Mahindra's larger tractors are plus/minus compared to competing machines, depending on who made them and how they are spec'd and equipped, so it's possible to buy a nicer Mahindra tractor. But the warranty experience with the UTV totally soured my opinion of the company.

Not made in USA, assembled here. People tend to combine those terms , made and assembled. Actually assembled in Farmington Hills, Michigan from parts the shipped in via overseas container. I can understand no parts availability. What comes in the container is for assembly only, spares will be in India.

I own a Kubota Grand L with cab which is great tractor to date. I also own a Mahindra basic no frill tractor but there is nothing crude about it. It works great and has for many years. As a matter of fact, the the FEL joystick is smoother on the “crude” Mahindra than the Kubota that I paid much more for.
