I wake up every morning more stressed and anxious about this than I was the day before. To make matters worse, I'm home with our two little boys and need to focus on them and not let it affect my mood with them. My wife is a pharmacist and goes in every day to one of the last major opened retailers in our area. I can't believe I, too, brushed this off a mere month or so ago. It's like living a nightmare every day with no end in sight. I know it will eventually end, but at what cost and how long.

One suggestion - stay off this thread - a lot of gloom and doom. Should we be prudent - Yes, should we be careful - Yes.

Look for good news:
1. The total number of cases in Italy rose to 31,506 from a previous 27,980, up 12.6 percent - the slowest rate of increase since the contagion came to light on February 21. Italy is the European country hardest hit by coronavirus.

2. 21 New cases in China - 20 of those from people coming into China

3. As the number of COVID-19 cases confirmed overseas daily have surpassed those within China, the draconian measures that appear to have quelled the outbreak domestically - particularly outside Hubei - are gradually being relaxed.

Chongqing, Yang's hometown bordering Hubei, has had more than 500 confirmed cases since the disease started to spill into the municipality. But now, there have been no cases in the city for several days.

The slowdown is not only in Chongqing. Across the country, 13 out of 34 provinces in China have cleared their remaining cases, and approximately 69,000 of 81,000 confirmed cases have been discharged.

4. All 16 temporary hospitals in China have been shutdown.

Will it get worse in the USA - Yes, but it will taper off and end and we will get back to a new normal (I thinks social distancing will continue).

China has a population of 1,408,526,449 people and 81,000 got the Virus = .0000575069 of the population was infected. Some people make it sound that if you see a person with the virus you will get it.

If we figure that the virus started on January 1st, then 325,000 people have died in car accidents worldwide. 3,250 per day everyday of every year. Yet, everyone of us will hop in their car and drive anywhere and not think twice about it.

Yes, sadly I do understand people will die because of this and family will be shattered. I wish that wasn't the case.

I guess I try to look for some positive things instead of looking at the negative things.

well this mess hit home here today. Not at the supermarket, got my bag of potatoes (just restocked) and a half gallon of milk.
And no one in there. They were out of wipes up front, now that's a problem. I'm not touching a food cart unless I wipe it first...

But when I got home I read an email from the carpenter I hired three weeks ago to come fix several things here in prep for selling my farm, and he just advised me he was cancelling all his jobs and staying home. Really? I live alone on a 24 acre farm, not like crowds of folks wandering through here. I wonder if he got sick and this is his way of dealing with it. There can be many good reasons like his own health, but sure annoying and makes me scramble to find someone else.

like they predict that because of all the sanitation efforts going on, regular flu deaths are supposed to be trending down. ?

but...we hope for the best and plan/take precautions for the worst.

Maybe he is looking at the fact he has to stop and get gas before/after he leaves your place, and he has to go deal with materials suppliers, and maybe any number of other public contacts, NOT located on your farm, in the performance of his job, and has made the decision it's not worth it. MAY not be all about you.

I was out and about yesterday, checking on a family member. I ran out of sanitized solutions before I even got to my final destination. I thought I was going to limit my exposure to people too. It did not go as planned. I was amazed at how many things I touched and how many people I had to come into the sphere of contact with.

People under estimate how they interact physically in the world.

I like your optimize, but no one believes the Chinese numbers. Most articles I have read places Chinese numbers off by 10X what they are claiming. An interview yesterday on the news with an individual in Wuhan, they are still under quarantine and strict isolation measures. Even in the US press briefings they have commented that the Chinese have not been telling the truth to the other nations.

Current projections for deaths in the US alone from this outbreak is between 200,000 to well over a million. The experts are hoping for a death rate between 1-2%, which the flu is 0.1%.
