The necessary pieces for the capabilities to be able to do that should have already been in place at a national/nationwide level.
Infrastructure - national focus on recruitment, education, and training ... as a public health policy priority ... research capability, etc.
And, but for a lack of national political will - and funding - it could have been.
I think that Americans are about to find out that their vaulted "healthcare system" is woefully inadequate for addressing this type of a catastrophe ...
We'll have only ourselves to blame ... if that turns out to be the case.
Of course, I certainly hope it isn't the case ... since it will probably effect me ... quite personally ...
