I like the stihl's saws. My father has had his 039 for over 20 years and still runs strong. I was at the dealer looking at the new 442's with the lighter bar they looked nice and plenty of power to weight ratio. The 251 is a nice firewood saw, you can run it all day and not be worn out at the end of the day.

MS462 I assume, yes they are supposed to be very nice.

I have a 461, bought it when it first came to the USA, and it's been a great saw. I stumbled on a 462 at the hardware store last week and dang, it has some nice improvements. I could feel my wallet warming up and darn near had an impulse to buy the saw. I quickly put it down and backed away. I need another chainsaw like I need a hole in my head.

The power-to-weight ration of that saw is impressive.

What is this elastro start all about, I dont remember seeing that before.

STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.

Are you sure, maybe you need to go back and look again, how many saws do you have now? I have 3 for cutting wood and that's just enough for what I do, I heard the recommended number of saws to have is 4.

I would like to try that 462 it looks very impressive and the weight is something else. I have to agree with Oldpath05 I had five at one point in time.

For me the 3 saw plan works well. That does not include the pole saw. I have to contain myself at 3, but I was going to get the MS241 until Stihl yanked it.

I only have 2. An old and small Echo limb saw and an older McCulloch 3200. My wife has two Ryobi 18 volt chain saws.
