It's the exact same thing that drug companies do with cheaper rival drugs or their generic equivalents. They buy them out and then never let them enter the market, so they preserve their market share, price and profits. We have a medical system in this country where the capitalism model has become perverted.

Agree. If it turns out that people die because we run out of ventilators, I'd like to see a Congressional investigation of the corporate decision making that resulted in the cancelation of the cheap "good enough" ventilator project. Nothing wrong with profits unless they directly hurt the public health.

1) there is no antiviral drug for coronavirus at this point.
2) the "evidence" for chloroquine is at this point non existent. The French doctor's article is no evidence at all.
3) the combination of chloroquine and azithromycin (an antibacterial) is just a "wildass guess" at an antiviral regimen
4) I'd rather just have a beer as there is just as much valid data that drinking your favorite brew is helpful as there is for chloroquine at this point
That's a hard concept for a lot of people to believe. That all available evidence (nonexistant!!!) gives beer and quinine equal odds of improving your health. It just doesn't seem intuitive after all the publicity. But going back to the fundamental sources that the claim is based on, this is what the scientific evidence available today shows.

For those that lost jobs, it is my understanding that the unemployment insurance was boosted with an extra $600 per week for up to 4 months. Seems the hourly worker might be ok once they start getting unemployment. I had also heard that the week wait was waived and you could apply immediately, which caused many of the systems to be overwhelmed and not work... in any case, unemployment is still a viable solution while the country is shutdown.

The french guy did another 'test' that had 78/80 patients recover in 4 days using the malaria drugs.

High powered UV light does kill most microbes but flashlight battery powered UV probably does little at all. Also, UV bulbs wear out and continue to emit blue light even after the level of UV radiation has dropped to an ineffective level. That's why in a hospital setting, if/when UV light is used as a disinfecting agent, there is a strict maintenance schedule.

5) I'd happily sign up for a clinical trial where I might get either the experimental drug or a placebo as I do think that we should be doing good clinical trials

Well, you drink a beer and I'll start my 5 day dosage cocktail if I get it.

Almost all new air handlers have similar UV light fixtures that run 24/7...they kill all mold etc...I understand about the low power units and portables but if they are emitting UV light it will kill the virus...

To make sure a light is emitting actual UVL it will fluoresce many common items like (real) marble, Vaseline, olive oil, canola oil, rock salt, uranium or Vaseline glass...and others...

An entirely different way to kill the virus is 145* F...hot enough to kill the virus but not burn up your mail...just don't leave the oven unattended...!

according to a magistrate I know there’s a noticeable increase in domestic assault and battery incidents that arise over minor issues these days.

At exactly what point did we become a society that instead of listening to a doctor's advise and following it...We started telling the doctors what medications WE thought we should be taking...mostly based on advertising, hearsay etc...?
