The local hospital has started shooting forehead temps and all employees have to enter through ER. Because a good number of people never look or act sick makes detecting this virus much harder. They were doing under the tongue thing but that took to long.

The hospital parking lot filled up today with people that showed up and stayed in their cars to pray for the staff. I know seeing healthcare workers daily on TV that did not survive the virus in the process of trying to save others is painful for all.

When I drop off the wife I try to remember to act like it is the last time we may speak because of the no visitor policy.

I waved at the 76 year old guy that I am his guardian the other day. Ted grew up without speech or hearing, has COPD and sleeps with oxygen so if the virus gets in that care facility it is not going to be good. They are on total lock down and through the window you could see the fear on their faces not knowing what the future holds. One lady was walking around with some kind of rag in her hand and holding it over her nose and mouth.

I was never in a shooting war but I am sure for some these times are like the unknowns of war.

The temperature checks won't really work for a viral disease that is infectious for a few days before a patient even has symptoms. Besides, those temperature guns are horribly inaccurate. It's just for show. Gloves and masks can be useful.

It would make more sense to just minimally staff the stores and do restocking at night when the store can be closed. That would keep the employees more isolated. The check out people can be isolated by putting up plexiglass shields. Our local grocery store chain has done that. Doesn't really complicate transactions at all in this cashless era.

I understand about asymptomatic cases or phases but there will always be people that will go to work even though they think they have a cold or hay fever etc...anyone with even a slightly elevated temperature and trying to work with the public should be collared...(double tap)

Yes... just received thermometers and no too read the same... disappointing.

The idea was quick temp reads...

We use to use IVacs under the tongue but got rid of them because took too long.

Now wait a minute folks, where are these things manufactured? Why can't the ones you swipe the forehead with be used. They seem more accurate then the infrared ones.

I knew very rich people who don't have a working flashlight in the house, and some in particular that demand that the systems in place serve them no matter what.

My lady friend had a contractor cordon off the playground in one of the condos she manages and immediately the residents complain!

Digital proximity for use on people... I think it is just the way they are made.

The medical suppliers are backordered so the Admin bought these on Amazon.

My Sears Craftsman with laser pointer is much better but I can't start zapping people entering the Hospital with a Craftsman Thermometer.

Checking in from FORTRESS TASMANIA (Wednesday, 1 Apr, 1324). Lost another oldie, 90's y.o. man, which brings Aus up to 20 dead. All of the last three were passengers off of the cruise ship RUBY PRINCESS. Which brings more concern to me as my Aunt is on the MS ZAANDAM, on their way to 'possibly' dock in Florida.

All's well here. 'Stay at home' if you can = essential travel only, but we're not on absolute lockdown. Wednesday is In To Town Day and everything went smoothly; Chemist for prescriptions - no problem, Post Office = parcel deliveries no delay, Petrol Station for 20ltr jerry can = price is down 9 cents from the previous week(!) and diesel is coming down in price too, Bottle-O for a couple bottles of Riesling = fully stocked and, finally, Groceries = absolutely everything on my list!

I may have mentioned in the previous threads that TP has always been available, just not the plethora of varieties & quantities (4,6,8,12,etc...). I've avoided buying any as I've got enough to last a while and thought I'd be patient and wait until my 'brand' showed up on the shelves. That day was today, although I did feel somewhat embarrassed because it only came in an 18 roll package... that's enough to probably last me until Christmas.
