Yeah ok I'll go do the research on Box Elder.............. And so you have a brand new motor on an old sawmill, what happen to the original motor, what about oil filter?I loaded this Box Elder on the BSM a while ago, and I needed to get it milled. It doesn't look like much,
And, before I could get started on my neighbors cherry logs, I needed to change the oil in the BSM mills engine, as it's brand spanken new! This is it's first oil change, out with the cheapo 30w, and in with the Mobil 1 synthetic...

That sounds like me some morningsOld motor needs exhaust gaskets and an electrical problem sorted. Also valves adjusted and oil changed. I decided to pull it as it's MUCH easier to work on, on the bench, and putting a new motor on, that I already had, was no big deal at all.
New motor, doesn't have an oil filter, all the more reason to get that oil changed!

I had noticed this crappy looking log in the woods behind my house for some time and figured it was obviously junk. I happened to climb over it and noticed it seemed solid. So I grabbed a saw and cut into it, and what to my wondering eye did appear? Solid wood. Nice when the wood is close by.

Actually it's pretty decent wood to work with, I should take a better camera out there and get better picts. to post here, as lately I've just been using my cell for pict. taking.I once had a heck of a time identifying a tree and determined it was a Box Elder. First I ever heard of that species, and it has some interesting characteristics. Cousin to a maple.
