What year is your 372xp? I never had a hard starting saw like that 2013 550xp, once in a while it started good but most times right from the get go especially if stored a week in vertical position with half tank of gas, two pulls with choke and gas run right out of the exhaust, pull plug yadda yaddy..... then it was suppose to be a 50cc pro-saw not a 4 year disposable saw of part time use.

I found the same thing with my 545... almost identical to your 550 except that mine wasn't an XP. You couldn't walk up a softwood tree limbing it without the saw dying at least once... to restart I had to set the brake, hold the throttle open and drop start it several times.

Well, it was another beautiful day here today, so we were back at it! I pulled my wagon out to where I had some logs skidded out, and started bringing them to my helper,

and he sawed them to length,

We was using a Husky 562xp with a 20" bar, and many of the logs were 20" or bigger,
until we had a decent load cut,

I don’t know the year but I’ve had it for a while. I’ve used it a lot and it’s still going strong. I can’t complain about the life span.

The best 372’s were the original ones the xpw’s were good as well the Xtorq were ok not my favorite. My favorite 372 combo was an OE with a hooped up xpw cylinder a local shop use to set them up for to spin 15k with 32’s in the cut they ran real good.

The legal definition of a thrown cord is 180 cubic feet. I don't know how you're supposed to measure that though, after it's been dumped onto your driveway out of 4570Man's ton truck.

I always have a Thrown Wood pile in some corner somewhere. For all of the wood that I do not want to throw out but I could not stack correctly if my life depended on it. There are always those pieces it seems, yet it all burns.....

I壇 be really surprised if there痴 that much difference. My truck will hold about 5 yards with the tailgate up and level with the sideboards which is a little more than a stacked cord. This load is a little more then a cord but there痴 no way you could stack it back on the truck with the tailgate up and not heaping much over the sides. View attachment 652947

Dang, there is my truck again. Or I wish it was mine

I keep looking at them, but everything that I can find is rusted out, ready for the junk yard yet they want $10K.

I've never had a saw last for 20 years... the longest that I've had one was my old Husky 254 which I bought used in 1993 and threw out in 2007. Some of us are chain saw snobs yet the lower cost saws are much better value for a lot of people who aren't running them for 100+ hours per year. The main things which I've found with the Poulan is the lack of vibration dampening, and that I need to adjust the carb fairly frequently.

I have a MS261 that I bet is about 20 years old, replaced the carb and hoses and its going strong.. my go to saw! But I don't do it for a living..

Yes indeed, along with cutoffs from my little mill.

I always have a pile like that by the time I finish putting the rest into the shed. I throw a tarp over it and that's what I burn first.
