Hello, I was once a member here years ago when I owned a MF 1428v I bought back in 2004. A divorce and a lifetime later I'm back in the market for a new tractor.

When I had the 1428v I had 4 acres and after time, I thought the tractor was too big for my needs. It mowed well, but I wasn't a huge fan of the rear mounted mower. I did not like unmounting the FEL, I rarely took it off because of the difficulties I had.

With that all being said I now have 11 acres - have a gravel driveway I want to maintain, a large lawn, a small garden and plantings. About 3/4 of my land is wooded and I won't do too much with it.

I like the idea of a smaller tractor, It will mainly be used for snowplowing in the winter, landscaping, mowing and driveway maintenance other seasons. I don't mind paying more for quality, I won't be buying another machine again. I want a drive over belly mower, backhoe, snowblower (not sure if front or rear), a loader, and a back blade.

I really want ease of disconnect of implements, I am not dealing with it again.

Any thoughts?

The BX will probably do all that quite well. You may wish to consider the B series for a little more weight but you should be fine. Whatever you choose I suggest remaining below 25 hp and avoiding the Tier 4 particulate filter.

1st, switching between BH and 3pt will be a PITA regardless of brand. I have a BX for mowing, tilling and lawn rolling. I have a B for everything else. The BX has a plastic hyrostat cooling fan under the tractor not a good setup for use in areas with lots of brush.

Drive over deck, Tractor time with tim - youtube videos will make you consider going green. Kabota may have it's faults but I like having all tractor parts made by the manufacturer. If you buy green with Yanmar engine, why not just buy Yanmar tractor?

You know how much you need to do in each of the categories you list (snowplowing in the winter, landscaping, mowing and driveway maintenance other seasons). I've never needed a backhoe, so have no experience with one. I believe what i7win7 says though about going between a backhoe and a 3-point implement.

I'm on my 3rd Kubota that has a loader. All could be on or off in a minute or two. The exception has been when I was in a hurry and didn't wobble the joystick sufficiently with the engine off so all pressure was relieved. The connections came apart easily but needed bled to reconnect them. I never mow with the loader attached and can't even imagine wanting to mow with a backhoe on the tractor.

We only have 3-1/2 acres, and for here I wouldn't look at anything smaller than a B series. The BX series was fairly new back in 2002 when we bought the first Kubota , and was only a little interesting because it seemed like a box store riding mower on steroids with a loader. The B series was more beefy and had more power and capabilities and was priced competitively. Went with a new 2002 B7500 and had that for 10 years. I often found myself wanting more horses for mowing slopes, and more lift with the FEL than the B7500 had. There are many very happy BX owners, and I'm certain you'll get input from them.

I’d also look at JD. I have the auto connect deck on my JD and really like it. I owned a BX before and they are a solid tractor. I’d also look at a B series Kubota for size and compare to the BX size. In JD look at a 1 series and a 2 series.

For my first tractor I narrowed it down to the BX-25 vs a Massey GC1710. I chose the Massey and have been very pleased with it. 225 hours now, no problems, it can do incredible work.

I suggest going to both green and orange dealers and actually install/remove the belly mower and other other QA front/rear to see which you like. I'm still in love my BX25D. I put a 'Tach n Go' QA on the FEL which has been great! Can swap a bucket for forks in a minute. The BH comes off relatively easy. I use a 'Bxpanded' dolly for its storage.

The easier and faster you can reconfigure your tractor, the more you will use your implements.

A few good reasons I chose the b2650 cab model over the BX was ground clearance and ease of maintenance when you need to do work under the tractor . You will have more weight and larger tires which I like but you may not want for mowing , that is not what I bought the tractor for . You don't give much information as to location , how long your driveway is etc. . If I had a short drive I would go with a rear mounted blower and front end loader . With a long drive like mine a front blower and a rear blade works great . I do have a larger tractor with a front end loader with no cab so I only use it when absolutely needed and it is needed at times .
