Has anyone tried these tires? Thoughts? Experiences?

It seems to be a great option for those of us that have the R4 style tire/wheel combinations and desire better traction in the field.

Thanks

on the test done by messners [on grass] they weren't much different than the R4s ??

Well, how did they perform on plowed soil? I am not concerned about grass except for the spring when I do run the brush hog.

the test was done on grass, no noticeable improvement on the load cell,

for maximum traction on plowed ground , you would go with R2s, and then R1s, [in various degree options]...the R4s will tear less, and be a smoother transport tire on hard surfaces... just my opinion based on 20+ years doing this crap for a living..

I have seen one set of R2 tires in my life and that was at an auction in Howe, Texas years ago.

I have always ran R1 tires, radials in the later years before giving up farming for a Government job in the late 90s.

I am trying to avoid buying wheels and tires and this appears to be a better option. I could care less about road worthiness of any tire at this juncture of my life. This tractor will see haying duties in the winter, mowing in early spring late winter, tillage in the spring and road maintenance yr round.

My 2400 came with R4s. I installed R1s on the rear, changed nothing else (but wheel from 16.5 to 16) and traction is day and night.

I made it a point to get the R14's on my RK55, it was a '20 add to the available tires. So far I'm impressed, grass not torn up like I thought might be the case. Dirt traction looks good so far.

I'm thinking hard about ordering a set of 12.00-16.5's for my MF. I found them on ebay today for $125 a tire new, with the branding buffed off. Pretty sure I know who made them... :)

They're listed as R4 rather than R14, so you have to search around a bit... :)

Hoping for good snow traction, mostly. Hate chaining up, and with my almost bald 10.00's, anything would be an improvement any other time of the year. No turf to tear up, and our clay is hard as a rock in the summer.

The ebay tires are only 4 ply rated, but I don't care, as I run my current 10.00's at 15-18psi anyway for a bit more traction and flotation. With a 12.00 on the narrower 8.25" wheels, I'll probably be fine at 15psi without worry about pushing one off the bead.

The same ebay "store" has Goodyear R4 16.9-24's (also with the name buffed off) for a good price too, so I'll probably do all four at the same time and be done with tires for a good long while. My rears are currently 17.5-24's, so I should end up with a bit more lead than I currently have, which would be nice.

I'll get some pics

BTW, I'll agree that if this tire had the voided lugs present, it would be an excellent snow tire, and pretty good at everything else, except perhaps all out R1 territory.
