Nice logs. Whatever you're building will last forever.

If you'd stop making crooked cookies you'd have all kinds.

I have a 16' x 18' shed in the works for next year, this one should make one of fountain beams so I want to let set hoping this fall I'll be able to pull it out without breaking something, the leaves should suck some weight out. But this might be kicked down the two year road, wife is wanting a downstairs addition so I dont know should be dry by time I use it.

What is a "fountain beam"?

I will be heading into your fine state this weekend hopefully, just getting a trailer and leaving before OldPath realizes I'm there! He might try to load my truck with some snakes to take outta there!!:D

Well I like the little device, but it looks like it takes forever. Seems a tractor/grapple would be more efficient.

I have a tractor grapple as well. They are good for different things. A tractor does me no good if I have to drive the load across town before unloading, since my tractor would still be back in the woods where I loaded it. Also, if the logs are not in the deep woods, it's faster to use my truck to bring the trailer to the job site and drive right into the woods with it.

It's not a fast machine, but part of why it's slow is the operator. I have not had a whole lot of chance to use it, so I need more practice. What you see is twice as quick as my first efforts.

This particular model of forwarding trailer is in an odd "middle ground". It's too small for commercial use (but then so is my tractor), yet it's too expensive for most landowners to justify the investment. I was fortunate to find this one used, with only about 50 hours on it at a good price.

Thanks John, I'll try it sometime.. I have way slow internet here , takes forever to load a thumbnail so we'll see if I load any big ones, but thanks for the tutorial.

It wasn't too long ago we were stuck with a 56K modem on dial up access (and which ran at best at half it's rated speed on a good day). Our internet speed here is not the greatest even with our current DSL connection.

A big key to reducing upload speeds is to downsize the picture before you upload it. Digital camera and cell phone pictures these days are multiple megabytes in size. For most purposes relating to online viewing, 1/10 that size is PLENTY.

Makes a lot of sense.. I only ever unload at my house, I never have to travel to do so. I have no job sites, I travel as far as my woods to get the logs and bring them back to my saw yard is all.
