Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I have to say, my local store, Adrian, Michigan is continually pretty empty, least of the stuff I want. Been needing a vacuum pump, no have in 3 visits. Want the Bauer cordless transfer pump, no have, 3 visits. Need a couple replacement rolls for my 'Tub of Towels', no have in 3 visits. The manager (cute little gal) keeps telling me they are coming in. So's Christmas.

Additionally, where did the Predator 23 horse vertical V twin go to? Not in the latest flyer and not online either. Poof, gone.

I believe she paid 25 bucks. With tax, almost 30. I took the battery out and examined it. Looks to be a Panasonic cell.

How long does the battery last in normal use? Any idea?

Maybe a couple hours on high, more if on the lower setting. I've never really thought about it too much. I have 2 so I can keep swapping them once one starts to auto shutoff. I may buy a couple extra batteries to keep charged with my dual battery charger. ProjectFarm did a battery test on the 18650 batteries.

HF 14 inch Lynxx 40 volt chainsaw. Today was the first extended use on consistent sized wood. Douglas Fir log, dead about a year, 30 rings at the last cut. Battery was charged a couple of days ago.

First cut was 7 inch diameter, last was 9 inches diameter. The saw made 18 cuts. No waiting time between cuts except several times to reposition the log lifter. The saw stopped a couple of times on the last cut. About 10 seconds wait and it would cut for about 5 more seconds to finish the cut. The saw has been used about 6-8 months with the same chain, mainly trimming and a few smaller trees cut for firewood, so it wasn't as sharp as new.

We've got the 40 volt chain saw and the 40 volt pole saw as well. The pole saw gets about twice as much use as the chain saw. I use the pole saw to trim trees up so tractor can clear the lower limbs while mowing.

The 40 volt blower is really handy too.

We've got an extra battery as our original chain saw leaked bar oil badly. The store manager told me to just keep the battery and charger when I exchanged it.

All the Li-Ion tools (I use and own numerous Bauer cordless ones) will cut off flat at a pre-determined voltage, part of the circuitry that protects the battery pack. My Bauer tools do exactly the same. I can be tooling along (pun intended) and wham, it's done. Don't slow down, just expires and if I wait a few minutes, I too can get a tad bit more run time, but not much.

DeWalt, Milwaukee and Ryobi will all do the same.
