Yes. Ive bern debt free for over 10 years.... highly recommend it.

debt free is the way to be. Living in a low property tax state doesn't hurt either.
It amazes me to hear what some of y'all pay in property taxes.

I do not know how anyone survives living in NJ or NY, with their tax rates.

I used to rub it in how little I pay for my 4,000 sq ft home and 15 acres compared to my corporate peers and their taxes for their postage stamp lots and homes

I could live ''high on the hog'' (as they say down here) on what some pay in taxes

18 months ago when you start thread being debt free was a good thing but with the fall out of the 2020 pandemic being nearly debt free is super awesome. Great move.

I kept working all threw the pandemic but being so close to debt free where I was comfortable, not having to stress about money was nice.

I lost track how long it’s been until you pointed that out. This pandemic has been a serious wake up call for a lot of people, some won’t easily bounce back, I was fortunate to start my debt free journey just before the pandemic.

I’ll be debt free this month, one thing I put on hold and miss is being able to give and help others, I put all tithing or donations on hold for the past year and half to the point of feeling selfish.

Thanks, that’s awesome and something I look forward to.

I have been listening to the Dave Ramsey podcast going to and coming from work, I hear a lot of stories of people’s journeys, lots of debt free screams. Was motivation to keep going, tell myself no to that new tractor lmao!

I don’t plan to ever go back.

I’m in Ohio and taxes flipping sucks. I pay soo much in tax ever year it’s crazy!

Just two years ago my property taxes jumped up 40%!

But I’m sure it’s not as bad as others. I actually didn’t think taxes were that bad here compared to other states.

I think my property taxes are $3200 a year now for 2.5 acres and less than 2000sq ft house suburbs of Columbus. Inside the outer belt (270) it’s much higher than I pay.

That’s cool, I thought about going down there and telling funny stories of selling a chainsaw worth almost as much as my truck, a tractor worth more than most peoples trucks and few other things. He got a real kick out of a fella that had a $9,000 lawn mower.

I’m sure he will lose it when I tell him I was sweating my butt off in my truck with no a/c towing a tractor that had cold A/C, heat and a better radio than the truck did lmao.

But then I think it’s about a 10 hour drive down there and I would be a bit nervous talking in front of that many folks having to scream about being debt free. I think I’ll pass. Still might go down there to meet him one day though.

I think I have only heard one person call in saying they owned some tractors, that couple had a small farm, owed something like close to a million and losing money. Dave told them to sell everything and get out of the mess they were in. I remember it clearly because the biggest debt I had was that 4320 JD tractor. That planted the idea that I should sell the tractor. That tractor led to another, then decided I could part with some more stuff etc etc.

Yep and taxes are going up...

In WA state it went from 6,800 to 16,000 with no end in sight... hard to be debt free and "Own" property in many regions... 7 months rent just to cover prop tax is sobering...

I have retired friends... paid cash for motorhome which is their full time residence... Oregon domicile so no sales tax on purchase...

Another retired friend has been sailing the world and the 3 master schooner is home...
