But it's a dry heat...

I spent the most miserable night camping in Death Valley several years ago around mid April. I had hoped for milder than normal temps. I arrived to winds that battered my trailer and 95 in the shade of my awning. I think it cooled to low 80's and the wind blasting through my window helped me get some sleep.

The Death Valley Germans is a sad tale The guy that went on the quest to find them many years later has an interesting blog about it. The Hunt for the Death Valley Germans

This time of year Im tempted to put desiccant in my BiPap’s water reservoir instead.

Current dewpoint at my location is 79*. Temperature is 95*

Some of the terms used in dewpoint charts to describe anything over 75* are:

Oppressive, Intolerable, Downright gross, miserable, unbearable, etc. I agree with all of them.

The dew point comments are spot on. That's the best measure of the effects of RH. It will suck the life out of you. Completely agree with the poster taking 110 degrees @10% RH over 80+ degrees @ 60+ RH.

My wife lived in Tri-cities WA for a couple years before we married, summers would routinely see mid/high 90', but <20% RH. Yes, it was hot, but the breeze had some cooling effect due to the dry air, which you don't get with high RH. I'd come back home to 80's & 50+ RH and die!

Either way, I'd take temps in the 50's & 60's all year long if I could get it! I always find it's easier to warm than cool down.

Yes - the Tri-cities, about 130 miles SW of me. You can always figure that area will be, at least, 10 degrees warmer then here. Both summer and winter.

Before meeting my wife, I knew very little about WA state, other than Seattle, of course. I was quite shocked when I learned she lived in a desert....in WA! I thought it all looked like Seattle!

I'll assume you are up near Spokane? We drove back to Ohio via I90 through Spokane....beautiful area! Really loved the scenery there, and the Idaho pan handle.....just gorgeous!

I grew up in Yakima, and really miss the dry heat. I love having hot days, but with the low dew point, cool nights.

Just like the Tri-cities, every evening the wind would pick up coming down out of the Cascade mountains and cool things off.

Since then I've lived in Indiana, Washington D.C., and now New York. I've adapted some to the humidity, and it's relatively low where we are in (Far Northern) NY, but I would take the dry heat of the West Coast any day.

I was stationed in Saudi Arabia and witnessed heat at 121 f in the shade. Was hot but very dry...didnt know I was sweating unless I wore full gear. Imagine weaing all your gear, helmet, fatigues, vest...etc in that heat. Yet, its still much more tolerable than upper 80s here in Maine with the high humidity-or Biloxi Mississippi with 100% humidity. Send me back to Saudi with full gear any day! Yes hot is hot but Ill pick the least of the worse. Humidy causes all kinds of problems from chaffing to rashes....Also been to Cuiaba Brazil always upper 90s low humidity vs Rio De Jeneiro which is upper humidty level(now this is confusing :)) I will take Rio because of that wonderful ocean breeze.

I go every year for a month or more (my wife is from there).

I'm 25 miles due SW of Spokane. Very near the old town of Amber. In the "good old day" my property actually had an Amber address. That was back when it had a postoffice. At 5 am this morning...... 40F & 20% RH. It's predicted to reach the upper 80's today.

That's precisely what I miss about living in Yakima. The cool evenings/mornings.
