The guys that pour concrete for a living keep the morning trucks booked full time. Since I’m not those guys a can’t just call down there and get a morning truck. They’ll bring all the noon concrete you want. For a footer it sucks to put down but it’s alright. You’d be in a real mess trying to do a floor in the heat.

When they poured my slab on a 90* day and after the guy power troweled it by 11am, he told me to keep it wet til night with the hose, bout every ten minutes that would dry right off and I could feel the heat coming from it.

I had to do the same, with the same outcome.

It was in the low 60's this morning so I did some trail work which seems never ending in my woods full of trees near the end of their life. Once in a while I actually get a usable log from it like this old red pine that got uprooted by the wind and fell across a tractor trail. I thought the stump might try to tip back up on me but it stayed put.

Good day for no deer flies around. I believe it's also know as Ponderosa pine, wish I had some I dont think it stains like white pine. Cutting trees off stumps is like a crap shoot, will it stay, flip back or pinch the saw.

64* at the highest today, I had to go put a heavy shirt on, what is this world coming to when I have to put a heavy shirt on in the middle of freaken July.

I do not have that problem, been mid to upper 90's every day.. usually 3 sets of clothes a day..

When they poured the slab around my pool, first truck showed up around 10 ish, they weren't ready so it sat there in the sun till almost noon, when the second truck arrived. they started to pour and it was so thick coming out of the truck they were adding water! I told them that that WONT work! (I've been in construction my whole life and know a few things) They said it'll be fine I said no but they poured anyway!! They got it done but by the end of the day it was all spiderwebbing and starting to crack... I got the pool guy out there, the concrete guy, the rep from the concrete plant all out for a meeting.... End of the story... they ended up tearing it all out and replaced it all!!

Wow 2 hours on the job plus the time getting to the job. I bet the driver knew it was a bad load, I bet the truck was rocking and rolling trying to mix it...........

We needed 21 yards for my slab, the concrete supply company had 10 yard trucks, quick math, I would have been 1 yard short. To avoid sending a third truck, and since they didn't have to go over any weight restricted bridges, the second driver took the owners brand new 11 (or 12?) yard truck, it was the first load in it & the owner typically doesn't let anyone drive his truck, especially when new. The driver was there a bit while we got the slab down so they hit me with a small extra fee, but it was worth it, so we didn't have to shovel too much.

I'm sure it was... glad I was there that day, just wish they had listened to me.. Would have saved them a lot of time and money.
